Hey all,

I'm wanting a better foil for downwinding on the ocean in Perth, WA. I'm currently on the Slingshot Hoverglide i76 with a 90cm mast and using a Smik 5'6'' board, I have a 5 and 4m wing. I'm 90kg.

What is everyone's favorite foil setup for downwinding (brand, front and rear wing, mast length, fuse length) Feel free to throw in info like board size and weight too. I'm currently thinking about a Slingshot 926 lower or going over to the Armstrong ecosystem. I am open to other brands.

Thanks

I'm using GoFoil RS1000& RS1150, 32" mast. Amazing pitch stability, great glide and it turns. I'm 85kg.
I've previously owned Armstrong HS1250 and Old gen Axis900,1000. The new GoFoil gear is way easier to use and amazing performance for both wing and SUP. Try and demo a few setups. The newer Axis ART is also worth a look if you want maxmium glide.

I'm enjoying the Armstrong 1125 or 925 (my favourite) for DW with 85 mast, 60 fuse, V tail (ordered the 195HA), and 2.5 Armstrong A-Wing V2. 30 knots, shoulder- head high conditions, too fun. Riding Quatro Wing Drifter 90 primarily.

Pete - I've got the Axis ART 799, adapted to fit Phantasm. Sick glide downwind, fast and super-carvey
You'll have to give it a try with your wing.

I recently got a 1440 Kujira and 2nd time I used it I managed to do a full 10km fully flagged out, without touching handles once. The extra carry and ability to pump myself out of holes made the difference over the 1210 Kujira. I use 80cm mast and a Signature KD Mach 1 tail shimmed for more lift. I weigh 87kg.

The smaller foils are fun but for me, downwinding is about staying off the handles.

Axis ART899, 350p rear, 860 carbon mast is my favourite set up especially if trying to go fast, so quick and so well behaved, ART999 is also great.

I tried the RS1000 and that feels great to carve but I prefer the Axis.

I often use my Axis 980v1 and 400p tail as well, especially if cruising with others, it might not be quite as fast but it feels super easy and balanced to ride.

Ok, looking for 80 cm - 92cm mast.

Thanks for everyone's reply

Tossing up between Armie, Axis both have a great range of wings, maybe Slingshot PTM. I will try to
demo some stuff first!

Definitely demo anything you can, but to be honest any current high aspect foil is going to be a revelation compared to the i76. Foils have come a long way since it was released, and even dedicated surf style wings have much higher ARs now.
