These look seriously exciting! Shame they arrived just after I bought my new foil
. Are the front wings slightly sweeping forward (like the cloud9)?
And which spot?

No front wing is swept back, turns very well with low stall speed for a 725. im in Cornwall UK spots in vid are Marazion and the Bluff

Thanks for these reviews Lee, serious lack of genuine discussion and testing out there that is not just reading off a product sheet...
How much easier is it to stay locked into a windswell bump when downwinding? Looking to get the glide 905 to complement my aero free 1200. Looking for something that will let me surf downwind easier when wind is pumping 16kts+, but also something for prone surf that won't eject the board on take-off when taking off on waves bigger than 1 or 2 foot, but still give easy gliding and turning once up on the face.

Yes the Glide 905 has way more glide and turns real good, not used it prone yet as got dodgy knee but had it out in waves on wing today ![]()

Nice clip! Thanks for the response, hope the weather will be that nice when I come back to the UK next month!
Yeah you definitely seem to get plenty of glide on those beach waves. Once thing is that I think the aero free 1250 is not a great pumping foil, doesn't seem to generate much speed or glide when pumping between wind swell or back out to the lineup. Do you think that the glide pumps better, or is it much the same?
Lee, 85kg, can gybe and wing along swells (so early intermediate?). Just got some Fanatic gear (75l and Glide 1085). I guess 1085 glide good for close together wind swells with 2-3' faces that I get at local beach? What would you recommend for soft waves with maybe 10' faces (soft Rhosneigr waves if you know it). As well as glide along I would like to turn too, but unsure if I'll ever be that skilled.

For rhossy up to 20knts I would use Glide 905 windier the Free 800. The Carve 850 will also work but prefers steeper waves
@leepasty do you know when the 590 will.be released? Have you tried it? I see some good speeds on gps-wingfoiling with it.
Also what is the total weight of the foil set up (assuming you have carbon mast and fuse?)
Sorry for all the questions!
No release on the Glide 590 but you can buy the Duotone Daytona which is what the guys winging in the Hawaii races used, it's super quick. not weighed the foils all I know is they are not super light but super light foils are not stiff ![]()
Thanks, the attraction of the Glide is having a race set up and recreational set up that are inter-compatible (which then makes amateur racing affordable). Rather than buying a totally different foil.
It would be really good to know weights, as they vary so hugely (eg AFS UH carbon mast weighs half the weight of the Axis, both are equally stiff - I've used both)

Unless you are under 75kg the Glide 725 is plenty fast enough for uk racing from what I've seen as the top 2 are lightweight on small foils so unless it's howling and you on proper race foil you not going to beat them anyway ![]()
I'm sure you are right. And I'm defo not going to beat Hugo or Finlay! But still good to be as fast as possible.
Would love to know the weight of the whole set up if you felt inclined to stick your foil on some scales.

Best I can work out is the 82 te mast & 68 carbon fuse is 1.4kg. My 90 mast is attached to my board with 60 fuse and 905 glide so can't weigh it. not sure why you want the weights, the stiffness of mast and connection matters a lot more and the fuse to mast connection on fanatic is stiffer than both the axis and afs. Mast is also as stiff as axis but with a better profile imho but you want at least a 100cm mast for racing anyway so if fanatic you would need wider mast or just get the Duotone Daytona set
Thanks so much! That is light. I'm guessing you have the colab masts?
I started getting some good height jumping and was aiming for rotations by the end of the summer, then I pulled a calf muscle badly. And I'm pretty sure it was partly because of having 4.6kg of Axis foil under me. So I'm determined not to repeat that. The Axis HM carbon mast is the same weight as the alu. So getting one of those was also not a solution. Hence looking for alternatives and asking you a ton of questions!

my foil weighs 3.46kg. 90cm carbon mast (non-TE), carbon 68cm fuselage, Aero Glide 725/160 wing set. can get this overall weight down ~300g going w/ the TE mast. Going to the 60cm AL 3BS fuselage adds about 125g
725 glider w/ carbon 68 fuselage 1505g
905 glider w/ 60cm AL 3BS fuselage 1630g
90cm mast 1955g

Hi Kevin, can you comment on the availability of Fanatic foils in the US? Your web site seems to indicate that you have everything, but that seems highly unlikely. I'm ready to switch foil brands and hopefully will get a chance to try Fanatic foils when Andy Brandt comes to Cape Cod next month, but it's a bit pointless if nobody in the US actually has the foils, and the few other dealers that carry them all show "out of stock".

2024 is about to come out which is why most retailers are out of stock. mostly same with few new bits. The te colab mast will now just be called dlab and standard carbon sls. speak to your retailer if you want something as normally the first batch mostly sells to pre orders ![]()

@sunsetsailboards Thanks so much for the clear breakdown. I think I read elsewhere you thought the 725 was pretty fast and stable?

Thanks for the info. Local retailers don't carry Fanatic foils, so I need to rely on shops or manufacturers with a decent web site that shows what's in stock. In the past, Fanatic had at least some windsurf stuff available in US warehouses or dealers, but it seems like they are deeming the foil market as too small- which creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Mackite will have stock in us.
new stock prob available after awsi
@rod the 725 is pretty quick I've done 28mph on it in choppy water, could do more on flat no probs that's with the 90 colab mast 68 fuse
I have some stock of Fanatic foils here in San Francisco and there are more at the warehouse. Really nice stuff but they were a bit late to market so it might take awhile for more widespread consumer adoption as many people are already invested in other platforms
regarding the 725 I was able to get 500m at 24.2kt which is a PB for me. Average of 5 best 10sec runs that day was 24.4kt. Possibly those numbers could be current aided
