Hi there,
I am about to buy a FANATIC Sky Wing TE 2022, 95 l which I found at a good price. Anyone here has or had this board and could maybe give me some feedback?
I saw a few comments about some fragility issues? Some others saying that no problems at all ![]()
...I guess it depends if you look after it or not. Anyway, if someone here can let me know his thoughts on this. Its the 2022 version, mint green type colour.
Thanks in advance!
All the local mint color TE boards I saw had several problems including leaking foot strap inserts and other construction issues.
Buyer beware..
I had the Standard Condtruction that failed after two months with cracked rails, warrantied. A few months ago got a 75l TE and used 30+times no issues. I've just added straps so hop the leaking footstrap inserts is rare.
I wouldn't touch the 2022 TE. Nearly all that I know of were warrantied due to failures. I've had the 2023 TE (yellow one) for a while, which I jump, and haven't had an issue. Also, if you have one of the standard Sky Wings (red/purple), don't put foot straps on and jump it. Mine ended up with a 5cm split under the front heel. I'm 75kg and wasn't jumping super high.
I own the Fanatic 5'4'' 95L (regular model, no TE) that I bought second hand. My weight is 93 Kg., intermediate after 1,5 years, foiled in 10-40 Knt range.T
he shape is a classic, flat bottom, no gimmick, 26" width like other modern boards and robust construction. It's a great board to progress.
I've recently bought a custom 6'4'' x20 x 98 L hybrid board, inspired in the Amos Sultan Wing, and I keep the Fanatic for my son to learn to wingfoil.
Somethings wrong with my 2023 yellow sky TE. The handle had a wierd defect which was repaired and now salt appears around one of the handle corners. I can also shake the board and hear water sloshing around.
The purple ones from that year seemed to crack along the top rail , I seen 3 boards do this at my local spot.
I have the 105L 2022 TE, still going strong, think they remain a great beginner to intermediate board, depending on your weight. But yeah, how it was treated matters, pull the drain plug and poke and prod around inserts and along rails to see if there are any soft spots.
Someone on this forum claimed that fanatic engaged a second facrory to meet unexpected demand, and they were the fragile ones identifiable by size and model.
As part of the warranty claim I sawed in half to destroy rather than return by post. It looked flimsy and very thin.

Surprised to hear this. My canary has been solid as a rock. (Could've been lighter though)
My '22 Sky Wing is a POS. Warranted. Replacement the same. Cracks in the rails from normal use. I will never by a Boards And More product again.
I do repairs professionally
Fanatic windsurf and SUP is brilliant, so no idea why they dropped the ball on the purple Sky Wing
But they know they did, and their prone boards did the same..... so as a result they released the proper sandwich construction at higher cost. Like all wing boards should have been at the very start .... but u get this with new sports.
I had a real hard sell getting ppl to consider the extra cost of sandwich in custom builds as some just didnt know why. Now at least its accepted. Now the battle is getting some manufacturers to do proper track installs. Not sh! tty longboard boxes in a token pvc block....
Then, proper breathers and not making dark coloured boards that pop!
To be fair, non sandwich can be done just fine like say Sunova's paulonia over biax carbon. But crap wood over very low quality glass is not gonna cut it.
To be fair #2 - the shops made good on warrranty which is hard on a retailer.
Still, keeps me nicely busy

My yellow 85l canary has been rock solid too, and with heaps of jumping
. No complaints with this one, unlike the earlier ones which I did have crack ![]()
