Anyone mixed F-One boards and Armstrong foils? I'm fully invested in Armstrong foils, but can get a super hot deal on a 60L rocket wing carbon to replace my 80L FG. Just a bit nervous about compatibility and looking for advice before pulling the trigger.

F-one boards have about 1,5 degree tail rocker under the box and another 1,5 degree between the box and the deck. I like the feel personally but ride F-One foils with them. It will feel different to what you have right now as most boards are at 0 degrees between the deck and boxes and also most dont have any tail rocker.

Not sure, you would have to try. The other way round (F-One foil with Armstrong board) works well. The boards are generally good and were ahead of their time because they are not that uber compact, and a little thinner and less wide than most of the market for their volume.

Are F-One foils designed to expect this rocker? (I have an Appleslice, which AFAIK has no rocker, and I am running my F-One foil quite far back in the tracks.)

I have an Appletree Jazz (deck and tracks perpendicular and all 0 degrees) too and run the foil pretty much all the way forward. Relative to the straps in pretty much the same position in the track as on my F-One board. I feel the touchdowns and stuff are fine, but I miss the deck angle relative to the hull with that board so do use a 1,5 degree shim which raises the front foot a little. Do feel that shim makes me loose some early planing ability and the board glides / pumps / lifts better without it.

Next board will be an F-One board again though and I will sell the Jazz. It just doesnt feel the same. Don't think its the tail rocker which is the cause but the deck angle relative to the boxes.

So are you running F-One foils on your Appletree? My other option is an appleslice also in 60L. Thinking this might be a better option for my Armstrong foil. Maybe.

I am. I kept hearing that F-One foils and boards go best together, but I didn't find issues with mine. Maybe I'm just not sensitive enough to these things. The 60L Appleslice has turned out to be a great board. Same, if not even better, bottom end as the 75L Fanatic Sky Style 75L that it replaced (but of course, less float when there is no wind at all).

So what you are saying is that both the deck and bottom of the board are angled up 1.5 degrees forward of the boxes?

I wasnt really consistent in my explanation, was I? What I am trying to say is there is a 1,5 degree tail rocker, but in addition the deck and bottom are not parallel like some other boards (appletree for example), the angle between deck and boxes is more than 1,5 degrees, closer to 3. In the more recent (2024+) boards they have brought this back somewhat with as far as I understood both less tail rocker and less deck angle due to the recessed deck under the front foot.

Whether its an issue with pairing Armstrong boards & F-One foils, I dont know, but probably its no problem. I do know that tail rocker and an angle between the deck and hull is more standard / the norm than it is not. If I look at the website the armstrong boards also seem to have a bit of tail rocker and the deck and hull not being parallel either, which to me indicates that they will probably match well. Same goes for for example Duotone boards. The Appletree boards are a lot more extreme than most in that aspect with 0 rocker and 0 deck angle, which I dont really like with the F-One foils.
