Hi
i don't know if this can be achieved easily in wingfoiling, but it would be an interesting thing. You have a light wind wingfoiling equipment and, if the wind gets stronger and you prefer contact with water surface, then you take away the foil, put a fin and get planning with the same wing and board. The board should not be tiny and the board's hull should be designed for both uses. You don't have to change wing or foil size. Less equipment, easy change, less budget, two different feelings.
I've seen Kay Leeny winging with a surf board without foil in strong winds. I guess a bigger board would have a bigger wind range
This can be done with some boards in windfoiling without any problem.
Kai lenny was surfing a wave if I'm not mistaken.
For windfoiling you have the mastfoot which allows you to move back on the board & maintain direction/not sink the tail while you're on flat water. On a 'wingsurfing' board you would have to stay fairly far forward to achieve the same thing I think.
Twintip ish boards make a lot more sense, I have seen a few vids of people riding kiteboarding twintips with a wing.
Any experience about these boards? How could crossing wave sets be compared to windsurfing and kitesurfing? I guess shlogging and gusty conditions among the waves would be difficult.
No idea, I personally have no interest in riding without a foil.
Sone good footage here of the board in action:
Interesting idea ??. Would be curious to see if that work or the same compromise with SUP / SUP Foil board.
