I've been riding slicks for a couple years 5m 6m d-labs and 4m 3m mods 3's but I'm changing to '25 units and I have the 4m already but im think of a 5.5 to replace my 5 and 6 and I've checked the weights of all 3 constructions d-lab 2.32 , SLS concept blue 2.40 , and the regular unit 2.49. I know the D-lab will last longer but twice the price . These weights seem very close to each other .
Anything five and below go regular. You have enough wind to hold it up.
Anything above five, go DLAB, you want the weight savings and stiffness for pumping.
Thanks that's what I've done with my slicks but it's not much between the hi and the low weights 2.32 and 2.49 .and twice the price
My first gen 2022 6.5m Unit DLab lasted at least 3x longer than any other wing (and was my most used wing), so paying 2x the price for Allula was worth it. The canopy did bag out but the leading edge and center strut are still stiff. I just replaced it with the 2025 Unit SLS 6.5m - figured i would split the difference between the 3 models.
Thanks Kiwi that helps my decision and my 6m 2023 slick is my most used and still going strong but at 5'10 it's hard to pump without catching the wing tip , my wing buddy weights 30lbs more than me and at 6'2 he gets going before me with identical gear so I'm thinking 5.5 unit as my biggest .

The early slicks and units had some wing tip flare. I am 6'3" and still struggle with my old DLAB unit but have no issues with the later 8m DLAB ventis.
I wish they made a 6m Ventis as I'm only 140lbs . I had a 6 and 7m CWC and like the 6m a lot but it didn't tack very well even though I had it modified to take a OR boom.

I agree. 4.5 Slick SLS the tips would easily hit the water. 2025 4.5 DLAB Unit - hardly ever. Wings have improved quite a bit in the last few years.
