I've been winging the HA925 on downwinders (flipped red shim) and on light days I want a little more glide so I don't have to use wing power as much on smaller swell. Up to now I've avoided the HA1125 because friends said it didn't turn good when it came out. Now that I'm used to the HA925, I'm thinking about replacing the HS1250 in the quiver lineup with the HA1125. Has anyone chopped down the 1125 so it turns better? The 925 is 954mm and the 1125 is 1050mm. How much did you finally chop and how did it perform for turning/glide/pump?

Brian Lee @bleehawaii8 on IG trimmed the tips off his 925 and he calls it a 888. I looked for his photo but couldn't find it. Maybe send him a DM?

Edit - oops, misread your message, sorry

I've thought about the same for my 1325. Have also seen others chop 1125, who say it turns better. However, an alternate point of view was put to me yesterday, the tips are designed to make the wing work the way it is intended. Their shape etc is for a reason, and make water move across and around it in a certain way. Chopping will mess this up.

chopping the tips of the HS range was a different philosophy, in that those tip are just those little curved up tips.

Ridden a chopped 1125. It turns better than stock but you lose glide.

With the glide trade off in mind would you recommend chopping then for turning priority? What percentage improvement do you feel chopping the 1125? Or does it simply make sense to just downsize to a 925 if you have it? I find the 925 turns so much better and doesn't need a ton more wind to get going anyway.

925 is a better option. Same glide better turning. The clipped 1125 has a bit more lift for heavier riders.

I consider myself heavy at 95kg, and have almost got the 925 as my daily driver.. It's an awesome wing. Just go for it.
