Anyone know if this should be professionally repaired or will some spinnaker repair tape do the job ? I thought might need professional repair as the tear has gone through the stitching into the window a bit from the fabric ?

Our local professional will repair that by taping both sides with insignia tape, then sewing with two rows of three step zigzag.
It's very easy to do and very robust. If you have the equipment and materials to do it then it's very easy to do yourself. I have done much bigger repairs than that using a conventional home sewing machine.
For the window, just tape over the tear and sew it. You need to use bonded polyester thread which is UV resistant and very strong.
Insignia tape is a little thicker than spinnaker tape and the glue is a lot more aggressive. The basic repair techniques are the same.
I used to do repairs using the full 50mm width of the spinnaker tape and no sewing. Now I cut 25mm strips and sew them. The end result is a bit finer and the stitching looks very neat.

Beudy, I'll do it myself. Thanks for the info.
