Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a 5m V4 Mantis. I have a Takoon v2 which after 2 year needs a replacement, but is a very nice and light wing. I already have a V2 mantis in 4m. A nice wing. Quite stiff and I find it a bit hard to pump it on to foil. Not the lightest wing and the handles on the V2 are not the best. But overall I do like the wing, it's solid and the quality is good.

Anybody riding the V4 Mantis and knows how it differs from V2? Or share their experience on how it rides and handles. Thanks!

Hi, I like your question, finally after 1 year of reading here I was forced to register to answer on topic I have experience :)
I am riding Mantis v4 with 5m size, over 1 year, but can compare only to Vision v3 with 4m.
Using Mantis as my 'default' wing from 12 till ~20 kntos - this is the most of the year we have here in Neusiedler See. Wing is very stable with great ability to go upwind. Also quite resistant in strong gusts. Handles are just great.
When stronger winds appear, then switching to Vision v3, I would say riding is even a little bit more easy with Vision, maybe because it is just smaller size (?) but that's my feeling.

BTW Mantis has also solid leading handle which I found very comfortable (Vision with soft handle is more nervous when I am holding it on leading handle)

Got the 6m as a light wind weapon with it's very good bottom end and pumps easy. Hard handles are comfy, feels balanced, flags well with hard luff handle. Gybes nicely, can't tack so no comment.
Cons (there always are), sometimes if vertical and well-powered the tip can dip but get used to it and counteract. Has a good enough top-end though if gusts are sharp (never nice) it can take a second to adapt which gets tiring, if gusts gradual no issue.
A couple of 95kg, 100kg+ mates have 4m, 2x5m and are happy

Thanks for the replys!

This really helps. Funny about the dipping of the tip, the V2 also has this, it was also mentioned in a review in a magazine. What could cause this?

Don't know what causes it. Had another make's wing that also did it worse.
