I use a Dutone DLab 90 mast with HA Glide foils in chop that can be thigh high where the board often just kisses the top of chop, I occasionally I get smacked off but not enough to be a real issue. The mast stiffness is OK though torsion isn't great and I sometimes feel that such as when riding high. Some AFS locals are on 82 mast (very stiff and low torsion) and don't smack chop often, saying they can ride high and the AFS-Silk foils might help that.
So, I am thinking the 94 will feel t0o detached, the 84 might be too short but maybe I can ride higher than I am used to? Any views/experiences on getting new 84 or 94, it's too costly to change brands.

90 is way enough... adjust your mast position if you get smacket off.
I'm 92 Kg and when I ride my Dutone 90cm mast + a wide Glide foil (1350) in choppy conditions, the feeling is slightly wobbly. So, no worries, keep your mast and adjust foil size
For racing probably 1100 and up and downwind in light conditions 750. Really depends on what you want to do. I use a 820 most of the time but transitioning to smaller for downwind and hoping I can get away with this in surf. If getting out over big chop, 900 is nice for sure.

Exact same setup, choppy conditions and same thought spiral after seeing teasers about new masts and lenghts. First thought was going down in size from 90 to 84 since 94 sounds a bit too long. But the extra length is always nice going fast. I guess going down 6cm will be more noticeable than up 4 :). Would be interesting to see a comparison between different brands regarding how they measure mast lenght. Hopefully Duotone will have some mor info about reccomended use when they release the new masts.
I use dlab 90cm mast and find that to be a good length
i used the 72, 85 and 86.5 cm Armstrong masts before and was really annoyed by the 72cm in swedish chops from 16knots and above. The 86.5 was perfect in my opinion. That one is from top to bottom 2cm less than the dlab 90 from top to bottom (with foil mounted)
i guess they use dirrerent ways to measure
that being said i wish Duotone made something between the 90 and coming 84.
issues for some people with 90 cm and longer masts are that they cant keep the foil high which causes drag and ruins waves etc but for me personally its no problem to stay high and I love the length in choppy waters
my issue with the 90cm mast is that its a bit wobbly. Not super much but def more than the 86.5 Armstrong mast etc. The new dt mast will have different carbon layers which most likely Will make the new mast very stiff.
I've been riding the D/LAB 90 and am happy with it (aside from not having quick mount open holes on the plate), but I am using smaller foils... Glide 725, Whizz 850, Carve 850. And excited for the new 94... we have some big chop here.
