Here's some shots of locals Ash Woolley and Luke Atkinson, I think this is Luke's 2nd or 3rd wing foil session!! Ash has his game down pat, looking very relaxed and comfortable.

Damn that looks so good! I had some work near ballina pre covid and was eyeing off the river break for foiling. Obviously seems pretty sharky but is it really a big concern at this spot? I am guessing mostly bull sharks

Most of the people wing foiling in the river are seasoned water folks and don't seem worried about it at all. I've not heard of any issues - so far.

I winged here for the first time during this session and have to say it was on my mind at first. It's such a great place to wing but if you have your gybe and tacks nailed there is really no reason to come off foil. The only reason I fell was debris in the water ,reeds , grass and sticks everywhere I would imagine after a big rain it could be unridable.
Falling on the outside in the river channel doesn't feel a good place to hang in the water.
Has to be one of the best places on the east coast outside the bar this day was angry triple overhead washing machine.
