Hello fellow wingfoilers, I have been winging for about 8 month now and have recently started to gybe and ride toe side (yet to try tacking).
I have an Axis PNG 1010 with a short fuse which has been great to learn on and works really well in winds below 20kn. However above 20kn it is a bit of a handful.
I am 68 kg and I am thinking of moving to the black fuselage, I am going to demo but it would help if I could short list a few options.
I am keen to get into downwinding and would favour confort and stability over performance. Having both a red and black fuse quiver is a bit of a pain so I think I'll sell my current foil and go for a 1 wing do it all setup or a 2 wing quiver if it makes more sense (say from 12-15kn to 25+kn). Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm a similar weight to you and have a 2 foil ART 1099 / 899 quiver that covers just about everything .. you could try either of them or maybe an ART 999 to bridge the 2.. It's probably quite a big step from a 1010 to an ART (in terms of start technique etc) but as you mention downwinding and stability it would be hard not to recommend.. use an ultrashort (or crazy short) fuse and small progressive tail <350 with 1099 to keep it loose..
Else I had great success with 880 HPS as a 1 foil does everything .. that would also definitely be worth a try .. 880 is a great foil to learn to tack on too .. I still borrow my wife's 880 sometimes... ultrashort fuse /350p a good starting point )
hope that helps !
Rob
If I had to pick one foil to do it all, I'd go ART999. At 72kg, I can get that thing on foil in pretty light wind with my 6m and when the wind picks up I just switch to my 4m and it goes pretty fast. I have a few other foils but the 999 gets the most use in the 12-20kt range at my weight.
While the takeoff is different from the slower PNG/BSC foils, once you figure it out, it's not all that difficult.
I'd recommend the HPS930 or ART999. Both really versatile across a huge wind range and with enough lift for downwinding, the HPS being more user-friendly. Also, a 375P tail. I found the 350 to be a bit loose for my taste and skill level.
One wing: HPS930
ART wings are great but 1099 doesn't have nearly the lowend of the 1010. 1010 you can pump yourself up onto foil with very little boardspeed, the ART's need a decent board speed for takeoff.
Depending on what your conditions are I would probably keep the 1010 with the red fuse for super light days (8-13knts), that's what I use mine for still. Then with mid teens I step up to ART1099, then upper teens+ step up to PNG850 or other small wing.
Don't rush to ART wings and skip HPS. Your next wing should be the HPS880 which has the biggest range. Then in 6 months you might be ready for ART.
I'd suggest, yes, switching to the black fuse, because it's the way forward. (you'll do it eventually so why wait?)
Then, if you want an easy transition the PnG 910b will be just like your 1010, but better at your weight.
It'll be less lifty in stronger winds but still great low end at your 68kg's. Characteristics regarding pumping to come up on foil, turning, stall speed, etc will be similar, but it will be a bit faster with better glide.
If you want to 'take the next step' then go straight to the 880 or 930 hps. (I'd suggest the 930) Both these will be significantly faster, with better glide. You just have to adjust to the slight difference in getting up on foil, which you'll do easily. ie focus on getting a bit more board speed through the water, before trying to bring it up on to the foil.
Good luck.

Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful answer. Reading all the diferent comments and views I think I'll give the ART a miss at this stage of my progression. The HPS 930 is a strong contender, thinking of sticking with the short fuse for extra stability easy of use while I perfect my foot swap (I tend to keep riding toe side at the moment). re stab someone mention a 375p would that be a good option? I currently have the 460.
Also if I were to get a 2 wing quiver to cover say 12 to 25+kn what would you suggest for my weight and conditions? Thanks.
