I'm Interested in opinions from anyone who's tried these out?I'm looking for a one board "jack of all trades" for Wing, supSurf Foil and maybe even DW supfoil.
At 65kg I was thinking of 6'2" x 23" 100L
At my level, just learning jibes, I don't want to go too narrow or low in volume, so thinking this could be a good size?
I had the Axis 6'2 Hybrid to test for a few days. Extremely relaxing, goes up easily, quite light and easy to handle. Felt agile once flying and easy in taxiing. However, it seemed to be quite fragile so handle with care. And a bit too long for me. I'm now on a 5'10. For winging I don't think you need that much length. If you plan to use it also for SUP foiling and downwinding maybe it makes sense.
I have the Axis 6'2 Hybrid, 100L, bought it as my light wind board, and also to use in gusty inland conditions, when my 72L board can be a pain!
I second what NikOnFoil wrote..........."Extremely relaxing, goes up easily, quite light and easy to handle. Felt agile once flying and easy in taxiing. However, it seemed to be quite fragile so handle with care".
For me, the length is not a problem, in fact I find it smooths out Pitch instability.
A friend of mine uses the 120L version in waves, and also for downwinders, he raves about it !
If you do get one, also get the Axis board bag, the standing area, rails, and mast tracks are super strong, but the foredeck, and planing area are lightweight carbon construction.
73kg, and..... 'enough'
Same for me.
The length wasn't a problem for me neither on water. Only on land - I find anything bigger than me a bit awkward to handle and the sensitive nose doesn't make it better. But on water really a nice board. They did a great job with the shape.
