Interesting to note the wingspan is 938mm, just 2 mm shy of the hs1850 at 940mm.
A totally different wing to the 1550v1.

Similar planform to the 1250 possibly?
If so it'll be a winner...!!!
Love the speed of the 1250...
I think you may be right. They have similar aspect ratios:-
HS1250: 5.51
HS1550v2: 5.67
HS1850 down a bit: 4.77
HS1550v1 down again at: 4.13
I was super keen on ordering the new HA1125...
but apparently different sizes of that HA foil are coming in future...
reckon I might go for the new 1550 instead.
What are you guys think I'm running a HS 1850 on an 85 cm mast At 90 kg I want to get a smaller foil should I go with the new HS 1550? Or should I go smaller

The 1850/1250 combo is really nice for me at 90 kgs. I find I'm taking the 1250 into lighter and lighter air as I improve. Big range covered in these two and the 1250 is fast and turny.
Is the V2 a big improvement over the V1 for an experienced foiler? more glide...thinner profile, faster, more stable(wider), pump better?
Who will be the first to chop shop it ![]()
Yeah, I cant wait to spend a thousand bucks on a high aspect foil just so I can take a grinder to it and change it back to medium aspect ratio

All of the above. Completely different to the V1
KDmaui eyed the 1550v2 and HA1125 and noted there is a new foil section compared to previous HS wings. On the Blue Planet podcast he also commented that he estimates the 1125 as probably the most efficient foil on the market.
I've tried the v2 and have the v1 the only thing that have in common is there area
I found it has a higher stall speed
so needs more speed to fly
dosn't turn as good
but should be faster
and it goes upwind better
maybe someone lighter will have a different experience but I'm sticking to the v1
wind was 20 to 25 and I was on a 3m wing

Good practice for you for the 1125!
I need some help now, on whether I add the 1550v2 to the quiver. I have an 1850 and 1125 on the way. I'm coming in at 93kg and ride 5.5 & 7 wings.
I thought the 1850 would remain for Super Light Wind (8-12kn) whilst the 1550V2 would be better for light to medium wind (12-16kn) and 1125 for everything above 16kn. These are the 3 brackets of wind typical experienced at home.
however, these opinions on the 1550v2 don't shine the best light. Was hoping It would be just awesome and a no brainer to buy.
i think the 1250 is a bit small for 12-16kn, and whilst the 1850 is great in those winds, would like just a tad more performance.
Can anyone tell me some really awesome things about the 1550v2, or if I should just stick with an 1850/1125 quiver.
thanks

The 1250 ticks all the boxes for me. I would wait until you have used the 1125 and see if you need anything else. Tails make a huge difference in performance you may be able to tweak the 1125 to cover the range you want. I have a KDmaui tail and it smooths everything out and turns really well. And get a smaller wing.

The 1550v2 is a foil you need to try yourself, and even try multiple times as there is some getting used to it. See if you can demo or borrow one to try out.
Depends I suppose what kind of riding you want to do ? Are you mainly in swell or riding in flat water?
personally I'd build a quiver around the 1250 myself.
I'm still on the fence regarding the 1125 to be honest. In that how much more will it add for what would be another 1200 bucks.
the new 1550 versus the old one is adding in further questions for sure.
I use the 1250/1850 combo as we do get a lot of marginal days here. But the 1850 feels like a slug after being on the 1250 but hey you at least get out.
there's a big fella here who loves the old 1500 and rather uses that than the 1850 - for more agility and while it may require a little More power - has about the same stall speed.
To me I'd rather have the 1850 and not worry at all about starting in marginal conditions.
I agree with Eppo. The 1250HS is my everyday foil at 85kg. I use the 1850HS when it's super light or I want to have easy pump and glide or work on carving 360 moves. I've heard a rumour there is two more High Aspect wings coming later in the year. I hope this is true as I really only want a much bigger HA wing to sup foil downwind with a paddle for normal sized humans. I don't see the 1125 has a place in my quiver despite all the hype. For me the carving ability of the 1250HS ticks all boxes for winging in open ocean. If you are in a flat water only location then the 1125HA might be better suited for advanced riders. I'm keen to try a Flying V tail and see what difference that makes to my current 1250/1850 combo first. Using a 14" KDMaui tail on -2 shim currently which is awesome.
Yeh sounds like we are on the same wavelength. I think my next step is the new tail for sure. Especially if it makes pumping better.
had another prone today and the minus 2 ticks all the boxes for stability on take off, (you drop down it pushes back then quickly Locks into a horizontal position in the power pocket) far more balanced during the turns and pumping is significantly easy,
especially when you ride over some reef turbulence and you get that speed stall happening. Recovery is far easier, more margin for recovery anyhow. It does push up at you more and the "lead legs" feel kicks in quicker but on the flip side you can pump quick then glide far easier.
my son had a crack today and linked up 5 waves in a row just pump and glide. Oh to be young again !
