Anyone riding the HA925 for winging? Opinions? Likes, dislikes? I ride the HA1125 but get too much lift at my 68kg weight on 25+ knot days. I have learned to taxi longer until I generate speed with the wing before angling the 1125 up to plane to avoid the lift-and-drop phenomenon at sub-stall speed. I would assume the same strategy would work well with the 925, but I wonder how different the 925 would be from the 1125. Any input would be appreciated. I would also imagine that the 925 would offer more range than dropping all the way down to the 725 for winging. Where I ride, I have to get upwind a long way to enjoy longer down wind runs, and I find the HS1250 doesn't carve upwind as well as the HS1125. Maybe the HA925 hits that sweet spot between range of use, speed glide, and upwind efficiency? Any advice would be great.

Yeh I've used the 925 heaps for winging - so has my son at 55kg. But he prefers the 725 as it's faster. There are heavier guys at 80kg also using the 725 but they are really good riders. Yeh the 925 is a sick for winging . but the 725 is an advanced weapon. I'm about 75kg ish. Proned the 1250 yesterday for the first time in ages - liked the forgiving stall speed on the pump but man it felt sluggish.

Great information! Thank you very much. At 68 kg , it sounds like the 925 would be a safe bet , but the 725 would be a bit more sporty when the wind allows for it. At the 68+ kg weight , if you had to pick one or the other for days when the wind is bouncing between 20-30 knots with some dips into the high teen, but also some ripping gusts at 40 (we get really gust fall and winter days that still have some lighter holes), which would you pick- 725 or 925?

Yea I love the 925, have been winging a bit recently, has been my go to for when its above 17knots for my 95kg, have used it down to 14/15kn, but that was a test only to see what was capable.
It really needs to be ridden hard and fast though, I can cruise a little bit, but you can't just relax into a tack and think you'll stay on foil. It is an awesome fun wing, and would highly recommend. I'm also tempted by the 725..

Kinda depends. at 68 kg in those kinda winds . the 725 would be a weapon. That would be my choice if I had to choose one in 20-30 knots at your weight. But your needs better match your ability. It's not for the average Joe rider!! Then again depends on what you are doing with it.

At 75kg I love the 925 prone but find it a bit too much foil rail to rail when using the wing in waves over waist high. I plan on picking up the 725 for this reason.

I have the 925 and 725. At 75kg riding a 69l board in salt water, I'm on the 725 any day that is 15knots or over. At 25+ knots, there is no question in my mind that the 725 would be the one regardless of fresh or salt water.

The 925 is much easier to ride, but after three sessions I'm getting more comfortable and confident on the 725. With the conditions you're describing you will really enjoy the 725. It's wicked fast, has great glide, and turns fantastic on swell and waves. In 20+ knots yesterday, I was comfortably keeping up with windsurfers.

Wow, sounds like the 725 is the next wing coming then! I thought the 925 was already high performance for me, coming off the 1550v2 and the 1250, but I find it quite remarkable how quickly you learn and progress through these wings. I'm 10 sessions in or so on the 925 and feel very comfortable on it, able to get going in the lightest of winds. Can't think of any conditions I'd want to be back on the 1550v2 or 1250. Now the 725 seems well within my capabilities. A month or 2 ago I'd never thought I'd be riding <1000cm2 foils, let alone a 725 one, but I'd love to try it now!

Consistent with what some folks were saying on the 725 thread, I found pitch stability was improved by riding with minus shims. With the chopped V tail, I've been riding -1 and just added another -.5 to try on my next session. Between "0" and "-1" I am actually hitting higher speeds with the -1 because its easier to maintain control. With the 925, I was riding at "0" and never felt I needed more stability.

I'm also about 68 kg and have about 15 wing sessions on the 925 and 6 or more prone. I will use it for 15 mph and up, definitely my go to foil. At 25-30 mph I imagine the 725 would really shine but I don't feel the need to run out and get one because the 925 works so well.
