I'm noticing creaking noises coming from the A+ hardware. Any way to get rid off this? Too tight, not tight enough?!? Using in fresh water. I find it annoying, like the sound of the rigging flexing on a sail boat.

I'm not getting any noises from mine. I'm cranking mine pretty tight.to the point I couldn't breakdown at the end of of my last downwinders because my friend only had a screwdriver torx.

Lube the joint lightly, then tighten. Might only have to do this once.

Could be carbon rubbing on carbon,or rather epoxy resin on resin?.
Is there any play without the screws in?.
If you have any play then the loads will be carried by the screws instead of the wing&fuse or fuse&mast mating surfaces.
Eventually the screws fatigue and fail.
Epoxy potting results in perfectly matched mating surfaces with no play, not hard to do.

Will lube them up. thanks!

Connection is solid. I'm sure the sound is coming from the barrel nut hardwares. It is a loud pop/creaky sound. Definitely metallic in nature. It took awhile to figure it out. Foil is otherwise extremely solid. No movement whatsoever.

foilthegreats.

Use a torque wrench. I got mine at a bike shop does 3-10 Nm. Had to buy the T30 head. Website shows 8 Nm. I run mine about 6 Nm. I have the old mast. I'm sure I could tighten the bolts enough to go past the yield point and snap them. ;o)

Also recommends replacing hardware annually although you probably have new hardware since that came with a new mast. I have to do mine soon.

I've cleaned the hardware and used WD-40 in the barrel nuts. No more sound coming from the hardware. Thanks for the tips.

the Prestacycle 8Nm TorqKey is an awesome little tool for Armstrong foils

Along with a SKIL recharge 4v screwdriver.
