The construction and finish blew my expectations away, just need some warmer temps to test her out. Enjoy the board porn!![]()

Beauty! A friend here just took delivery of a few of the Appletree boards (kite/prone/wing). Look amazing.
Had an Appletree for prone foiling. Construction is unbeatable. Your board looks epic mate, would love one of them
Enjoy it.
Sounds like they use a closed cell foam and no sandwich? Definitely a good method for these small boards.
I'm 75kg without gear on. This is my all around board at 4'9" 23.8" 4.17" 70L 5.4KG. This has been an amazing board so far. It's holding up extremely well under punishment. I ride this board in the lightest wind up into gale conditions.
My only real complaint is I'd like something a little less wide.
Shape is great and I like the kick tail even with HA 1125. Pump up on this board works great. Track box and foot strap inserts all in excellent locations and holding up great. I have lots of riding video here if interested: Foil The Great on YouTube (Sorry posting link doesn't work)
Here you go:
Nice, hoping to get out too. It's been really light lately. I purchased directly from Appletree. There is a 8-10 week lead time I believe. I know Real Watersports currently has inventory. I believe landed at my door after duties etc the board cost me around $2500 CAD
Appletree just quoted me 8 weeks for a custom. Real has the 5,2 and larger size. Mac is waiting for their delivery on a full size run.
im on the fence between the -10 (4,9) and +10 (5,2) volume. Realistically at my skill level the +10 is probably right for an all arounder, but I have a big board so maybe I go smaller and just keep both. That being said I hate having to make a choice between boards when I go out because I always seem to make the wrong one. Conflicted!

I'm at -5 on the 70L without gear. I'd personally go with the smaller size. It will push you to build your skill. If ordering custom you could get 4'11" 80L custom job. Be right on the money for all conditions.
v2 Just released
appletreesurfboards.com/product/appleslice-v2-wing-foil-board/#stock-or-custom
Might need to grab a 50L or 60L to compliment my 90L v1. The v1 board is great and I like the nose shape on the v2 to nimble things up a bit. The flat tail to add some length will be a great add in the smaller sizes too. Once you see the construction quality, ease of repair, and maintenance on these boards (closed cell), its hard to get anything else.

that rocker is super flat, wow
Looks very much how I like my boards, maybe only sharper rails in the back.
Thanks Velociraptor.
was about to buy a new board, and looking for decent deals. Now I will have to save a bit more to buy one of these.
i tried the V1 with 40 (or 50) litres. Was beyond my skills. But loved the build quality and shape. The v2 is less futuristic but will be a fantastic beast.
Special thanks to Velocicraptor. I was able to lay my hands on the V2 version of Appletree's Appleslice Wing board.
Lucky me!
For the record. I'm not related to the Appletree brand and need to pay full retail price. But the Appletree HQ is only a couple of kilometres from my home and I like the idea of supporting local shapers :-).
My goal is to have one wingboard for light wind conditions and wind upto 25 maybe 30 knots on (small) lakes and in wave conditions (mainly North Sea coast - the Netherlands). I'm not into freestyling and jumping (yet). Our water temperatures vary from 4 degrees in winter tot around 20 at the end of summer. So I need to be able to float / slog, release fast and turn easily.
I was looking at boards with hard release edges/tails, like the 2022 Fanatic Sky Wing and the 2022 North Seek. And I wanted a board that's durable, strong and stiff. Preferably light weight, but I rather have +200 grams if that makes the board stronger. On paper the Appletree Appleslice V2 has all that (and then some). So I ordered the 5'0" (83 litres) that was still on stock. It was delivered last friday at the Appletree HQ. Of course I picked it up immediately and took it out for a short session on saturday.
Very gusty conditions on a small inland lake. Took my 6m wing (Ozone WASP v1) and sabfoil w1250 (m82 / 700HS / s425).
Needed to adjust to a 5'0", but soon enough could slog with ease and needed only a little wind power to get the board to flying speeds. Direct response to my input and feedback from the foil / water. Was able to make tacks that I could not have made on my 'old' board. For the first time wing foiling I could imagine trying to go for a jump.
I'm very happy so far and believe that this board will do what I was looking for. And it will last during my progress to the level I aspire.
I will add some pictures later.

Nice! I grabbed a 4'9" as well. Supposed to ship this week. I cant wait.
Hard to grasp all the design features in a picture.
looks like an Appletree wing v1 and an Armstrong FG had a romantic night, and both best features are blended into the Appletree Appleslice Wing V2.

@velocicraptor Please post your review when you get the 4'9" ... I'm looking at that board as well to replace my 90L Quatro and compliment my 38L KT sinker. Having a tough time deciding between the 4'9" 60L or 4'8" 50L. I'm mostly keen to get your take on the low-end capabilities of the board for marginal wind days (less than 15 knots).
Wow that v2 looks amazing - i just got a 2022 Fanatic but that honestly looks the business / better - certainly i bet construction wise. They seem quite narrow size for size - do they feel less floaty/easy to get up off your knees? im 91kg and currently have 95 fanatic but thats an inch wider than the v2
Anybody have weights on these boards?
I was told 4'9" is 5kg. Apoletree is generally light enough but never the lightest. my previous board construction from them is very stiff and solid and a large reason I stayed with the brand.
Jeroensurf: sttttt, don't tell anyone. ;-).
I think we've met at Mooie Nel recently. I was on a JP foil sup that day.
@Flying Peeew:Jep we did :)
Funny, Molenplas is so small I wouldn't even thinking about Winging over there but recognized it from Stand up paddling there![]()
see you soon with your Appletree on the water.
I'm considering getting a 83liter Slice board as my 75l fanatic skywing 2021 is just a tad too small for my 82kg in very light winds. I'm also looking at the 85l Skywing 2022.
Has anyone tried both the Skywing 2022 and the Slice v2 for comparison? I'm especially interested in how good they are at building board speed for take off with high aspect foils.
As an update, Ive now spent several days on my 4'9, 60L v2 (-20L for me). The board is everything I was looking for. Loving the improved jumping and pumping coming from a bigger board. Im new to a board this low volume, but found it very easy to get up on when adequately powered. As long as you can get to your feet and get sufficient hull speed to get the board onto the surface (doesn't take much at all) taking off is no more difficult than a higher volume board. 17+ kts I could get up in anything. Below that, I needed smoother water to build it up to takeoff speed. I initially thought this would only be used for 20+ kts, but I can see this replacing my larger board at much lighter wind - particularly as I get more comfortable on it. At first I wished the volume were concentrated slightly more forward (see strap placement notes below), but I adjusted my starting technique a bit (standard stinkbug but need to shift weight back as I power the wing), and am totally comfortable with it now.
Tweaked around a lot with my setup and found that the following worked best with Takuma 1095:
- Front strap in the back holes. Im usually further forward with my straps, but anything further forward was very pearly when pumping onto foil and touchdowns.
- mast mounted just forward of center. Very rough guide, but the back of the mast plate is aligned with the point of the "water drop" graphic on my board.
- KD 13.5 with 1 degree shim (thick part forward) - tried 0.5% (not enough control) and 1.5% (too draggy/grippy) too. Side note, but it was pretty interesting how much a half degree tail shim impacts mast placement...
Im loving the board and can see myself using this 3/4 my days on the water - which is more than I expected at this volume.
Anybody have weights on these boards?
Direct from Appletree:
"The average weight of the V2 83L is 5.9kg +/- 5% This is a measured average, we weigh each board that comes out of the factory and if it;s over 5% off, it is rejected at quality control. "

well, mine was more than 20% off and passed quality control easily. They didn't offer anything when I contacted them.

Like yourself, I came from the 90L Quattro and have a 35L 4'6" Amundson prone board that I use(d) as a sinker when it's nuking.
I'm 78 kg, and got the 60L 4'9" a few months ago already (I had a pre-production run). Mine is 23" wide but I think the production is even narrower at 22.5".
This is now my all conditions board. It doesn't feel bigger or sluggisher than my 35L sinker, but sooo much nicer than the 90L Quattro that now feels like a monster truck to me.
For me the key specs are:
- Narrow width, as I'm mostly riding waves
- Pointy nose (I think it just looks better, to look like a surfboard for waveriding)
- Flat rocker (only the nose has some rocker for touchdowns)
- Slightly recessed deck (allows for more nose rocker while keeping feet in parallel line with boxes)
- Bombproof construction
I made a review video a while back:
