The latest item I saw released is the HD alu 80 mast and fuse. I guess the HD is stronger.. the fuse had a screw system that expands the fuse insert into the wing connection.
The current 2022/23 Alloy HD 80cm mast & the new Carbon 75/85 mast come with the expanding fuse system mentioned above & is compatible with all Current & past Takuma Front Wings & stabs. IMO this is a pretty Solid system now - though you may still need some shimming for the loosest of front wings... Not released yet, but rumored coming May/June is a new Kujira II Wing line which has a new /different Wing connection system, but uses the HD/New Carbon mast/fuse connection. So, if you have the new HD Alloy or Carbon mast, you will need both fuses to use every Takuma Wing past & future.

Love my Kujiras but the front wing to fuse connection is an awful design.
I make mine tight with additional top screw and epoxy fitting but changing front wing is not fun or quick at all.
Wish they had gone to a flat pedestal for the stab, that curved crap is obvious proprietary BS so you cannot use other brands stabs easily.
Wish the foil industry took a bit of a lesson from skateboarding, choose deck,wheels,trucks & bearings from any brand and go ride.
BTW i am riding the 85 new carbon mast and fuse ,with a Kuj 980 that i used to ride with the carbon 75cm T-bar.
At first i hated it, so much draggier, completely different mast position (way forward) and mastplate shim.

My board has flat bottom and deck and yet the new mast requires mast plate shimming or the nose rides way down (opposite of the TBar).I tried 0.5* and today i will try 1*(thick part fwd).
The big plus: this thing is a control beast ,you can really,really go fast and carve hard.I am not going back to a flexy mast for winging, ever.
For surfing small stuff the Tbar is great.
So the new gear looks good to me but i would get ready to deal with Takuma quirkiness and setup complications.

Good thing they have great Stabs... even some Uni guys are riding the KJ 178/158 stabs & the new range looks pretty extensive... I'm all in, but I'll be keeping an HD fuse to use with Kujira 1 wings & stabs.

Hello Noffi, No, it is one new fuse. It seems the smaller Wings only use 2 holes whereas the larger are using 3... haven't seen it in person yet but that is my understanding...

I disagree. I would like to see a standardized mast/fuse connection, fuse/wing connection, & stab fuse connection. This way different fuselage/masts/wings/stabs could be offered by the brand or 3rd parties & could be mixed & matched. There is no reason a strong Wing/fuse connection can't be engineered. In fact the current Takuma one is plenty strong, just prone to fit issues due to difficulty keeping tolerances on both parts. Time will tell if the new system solves this issue.

I disagree. I would like to see a standardized mast/fuse connection, fuse/wing connection, & stab fuse connection. This way different fuselage/masts/wings/stabs could be offered by the brand or 3rd parties & could be mixed & matched. There is no reason a strong Wing/fuse connection can't be engineered. In fact the current Takuma one is plenty strong, just prone to fit issues due to difficulty keeping tolerances on both parts. Time will tell if the new system solves this issue.

A standardized fuse to mast connection doesn't preclude the concept of a "stub fuse" like Unifoil, Cabrinha and FOne have. I wish all brands would design around a simple, standard m8 connection (I prefer a simple butt joint with zero tolerance issues) and would use the stub fuse concept. Other than packability, there is zero reason for a joint in front of the mast connection - its more stiff and solid, and moves the fuse connection to an area that takes less stress (behind the mast).

I think we are still learning about the effect of mast to wing CL position... may turn out to be a useless variable & No current system allows for it - except with a separate fuse you can have a custom fuselage e.g Stringfellow etc.. Also, the Windfoil market has this with different fuselage lengths & positions offered like Starboard + & ++ fuse... just think having whole fuse separate adds more adaptability to the system.
