After less than half a dozen sessions my friend Andrew finally gets flying and makes it look easy.

Awesome. Nice footage.
I've finally got a few nice controlled runs.
But still not on my backhand. Causing walks of shame. Haaa!
More practise ahead.

Ah, the Dreaded Walk of Shame (DWoS), how well I know thee . . . . . .

Its humbling to learn something new and be a complete numpty. A feeling we should never get tired of.

I'm 6 sessions into my wing foiling and for me it's not a Walk of Shame, for me it's a Walk of Victory, because it means I've got up for a good long flight on the foil!

I did it so much I made a velcro'd pad to protect my shoulder from the mast on looong walks.

Agreed, its a rare quality for someone to take so much interest in the development of others. Imagine a world where everyone did this.

Agreed, David's posts are awesome and have helped me. I'm 70 sessions in and am pretty competent and loving it. 1 bit of advice to newbies is to go in whatever the conditions unless it's dangerous. Ive learnt loads by my failures as much as my "omg" light bulb days. A bit too light - try pumping the shxt out of the wing/board, bit gusty/strong - practice depowering the wing, bit choppy - helps your balance before standing etc... I'm convinced by not being to choosy it has helped loads. I see alot of nervous newbie kiters gazing in the sea debating. Often I go in have a session and they are still gazing having internal head fight! Thing with winging it's so much more safe. Wind drops - no problem, wind picks up strong - no problem etc.. New Kitersurfers aren't as lucky..
Wing on..!!
