I would take my Armstrong foils on vacation (Red Sea, Egypt) by plane and rent a board there. You can rent only Vayu and Axis boards where I'm going.
My question: Is it possible to ride Armstrong foils on Vayu and Axis boards?
In my experience, you have to place the Armstrong foils relatively far forward in the US box (point of lift further back). All I've heard about AXIS foils so far is that they have to be positioned at the back of the box (point of buoyancy further forward).
Does anyone of you have experience with both systems and their mast position / point of buoyancy?
Are both worlds compatible?
I've never seen Axis and a Armstrong gear used together. unsuspecting that would be sacrilege! Because generally speaking you're talking about two camps of frothers with a very different philosophy. And you're in one or the other. I'd be interested to hear anyone who has experience of mixing this. You already pointed out the one obvious concern in terms of mast position
Don't know much about Vayu boards. The wings are quite rare too. But you may have more luck.
Or you could rent a full Axis set up and experience a balanced system that works and is arguably easier to use than Armstrong. (In my experience). The only risk is that you, like me and many others will realise the difference and change.
Vayu wings get a good review from James Casey. Again a good opertunity for you to try them.

I have Vayu FLYR 5.0 and Axis foil and also Armstrong foil and FG board plus two other foils and boards. Vayu board do not work well with Armstrong because of short foilbox too far in back. I ride with straps!
Armstrong FG board can be use with all foils I have, but I barely use any other foil than Armstrong anymore. Especially now that I have 935 mast.
I only use Axis with Vayu board, but i find it little boaring to ride.
If they have Vayu wings, give them a try. I found then nicely balanced and their range is good too, but they are bit heavy with aluminum booms.
saltwaterwine and siksvan, thank you very much for your help.
I decided to rent the full stuff from Vayu (foils are Axis foils labeled as Vayu!). I also think it's a good experience to get to know a different system. With Armstrong I miss the front foot pressure in the jibe, I love the rest. When in doubt, the problem is on and not under the board. Have fun!
I looked at what foils Vayu has to offer and they look like the old axis ha and png 910. Nothing current to compare with Armstrongs ha hs or ma.

Thanks, that's what I meant by Axis Foils (older stuff) are labeled as Vayu. Thank you for this precise information! I think it will be exciting to drive in another foil universe (Armstrong vs Axis). Thx ![]()
