Would they be of similar power for light winds. I'm 96kg.
Original Slick, not SLS.

I'm about the same weight and have the 7.0 Slick (SLS). My sense is the 6.5 may be a bit easier to pump but the power of the 7.0 is crazy good and keeps you on foil in really light winds.

You can't compare the original Slick to the Unit v2 or Slick Sls.

From my limited experience: original Slick has better low end compare (yes, you can compare) to Unit v2 or Slick Sls. For light wind that's exactly what you need. Also it has smaller wingspan - much easier to pump.

Yes if you mean just holding it and using grunt to get going without pumping but I'm terms of everything else you cannot compare. With good technique you can get going way earlier on the Slick Sls and Unit v2 compared to original Slick. also when you are riding they are far superior in every way from wind range to tacking to flagging off front handle. Even holding when not enough wind to fly itself the Slick sls is superior ??

Does anyone know what's the span of the new unit? I didn't find anything.

Are other brands an option as well?
I owned an 6m Slick and that was quite difficult to properly pump on the foil and so is the Unit in bigger sizes due there stiff frame.
I never tried one, but the guys on the water in my aera are insanely quick on the foil with the Fone CWC in 7m...The one I held in my hand on the beach was freakin light and had a huge belly. I think it is in LW probably the goden standard if you don,t mind there soft handles.

Hey!
I experienced the same with the sls 6.5. Because of its span the tips catched the water very often. That's why I asked about span of unit. Haven't tried much other brands but for example the gong droid its pretty easy to pump. Other wings with same compactness must behave similar.

Well you can compare them, but the original slick pales in the comparison... Rode a 6m v1 slick and 6m v2 unit back to back and it is night and day! Annoying cos I didn't want to upgrade!!

Would I be right in saying that the unit v2 and slick sls have very similar canopy shapes characteristics.
But one with handles and one with a boom. Canopy shape looks similar to me except the sls has the 2 smaller clear panels.

No they are totally different. Unit has more grunt when pumping slick sls points higher and gets its power from going fast. If you are heavy go Unit v2 if light slick will be fine. the Unit v2 dlab 6m is a great light wind wing and some deals available on new ones. also I used the unit v 3 5.5 standard 1st time yesterday in very patchy light wind and very impressed. Flags out on wave as good or better than the v2 5.5 dlab. Loads of power too if you are heavy I'm 93kg dry ??

So in conclusion of most of the above posts. If buying 2nd hand is it worth paying a few hundred more for a sls slick or v2 unit rather than an original slick.

Original slick has better low end, feels softer, almost never flips upside down, but can hop like a bucking bull on a leash.

Slick SLS - much better top end, feels stiffer and more direct, much better upwind, but harder to pump, will always flip upside down, not super stable flagging on the handle (always hold by the boom), stupid second dump valve on the tip.
