Past ready to get a new board, travel restrictions stopping me getting to gold coast to test/look at actually pick up and 'mind surf', my usual process for buying stock boards.
3 main candidates, Jacko's 5'4" 111 L one ocean, Naish 5'8" 110L S 26 hover, and starboard 2022 5'7" 110 L lift.
All about $1500, not spending more, 95 Kg and no problems winging and suping fanatic sky sup 6'7" but feel smaller would be better. Using Armstrong V2 1550 and would like more front wings but budget deficit only works for pollies.
What's ya 2 cents?![]()
Can I give my opinion ![]()
Just so you can compare them evenly the 5'4 we have for $1500 at the moment is 100% full PVC molded sandwich and the 5'4 x 27.5 x 110L is 6.5kg average(under 6kg for the carbon)
Good luck on the homework!!![]()
Yeah I have the 5'4" non carbon version. It's nice and light, solid construction and a nice clean design, very happy with it.
I am 100kg, I only use it for wingding, I haven't tried supping it yet but I don't think it would work well for someone my size.
I have heard a few pros/ industry people saying anything under 5'8" is a real chore to sup paddle. I wonder if many people are sup foiling on boards under that length?
I have a recent naish hover and they are not super strong. Deck started to collapse after a few months. I would be looking at the one boards or something with similar construction
Down to one vs starboard. Just got back from a couple hours of winging, so cooked. Gunna be sore at work tomorrow.
I have the Naish Hover 110 and very happy with it. My friend has the 5 4 one ocean & it equally is a great board that if I did not have the Naish would have got. Either way I don't think you will be disappointed.
Have you guys sup foiled them? Possible for 95 Kg at a reasonably nimble 55 years.
On ours yes you can SUP it, they are short so can take a bit to get used to the shorter length and a little harder to get into the waves on but once up they feel crazy good.
I sup foil surf the 5ft wing board all the time and love it.
I've been using the One 5'4" 111L (carbon version) to ding since the first shipment arrived back in January. Its very stable and forgiving, lifts easily and also doesn't feel too big once flying. At 86kg, I could easily go smaller in most conditions, so its got plenty of float for someone a bit heavier than myself.
Durability is great too - I have used the board a lot and 10 months later it still looks and feels brand new.
I have SUP'd it a few times and it surfs really well - felt a little slower to paddle into waves than my 5'10" SUP but I think if I paddled it more often it would just be a matter of getting used it the different feeling of paddling a shorter board - but once on a wave it feels great! (I simply haven't paddled it more often because I've been learning to prone foil over the last few months instead).
I got the standard construction 5'4" One board, new, back in June and have been really liking it for Dinging.
It feels light and strong, (still doesn't have a mark on it), has a really nice carry handle and looks great on the water.
I'm 86kg and love that it packs 111 litres into a fairly small footprint, allowing me to shlog back if the wind dies. ![]()

ONE sounds like the one, anyone from Tweed to Coffs got one that I could look at, maybe paddle in flat water?
No Starboard wing board uses out there?

I will have a bunch arriving in about a week or so and can throw one over the border for you to try out if you like. Take it for a session and then throw it back over, I might also be able to leave it with a mate who lives in tweed if that's even easier but happy to let you test it out once they arrive.

Thanks Paul, will give you call and sort something out.

I use the JP Foil SUP 7'0". It's 115 litres.
I use it for winging and sup foil. I could go windfoiling om it.

Currently on a 6'7" and want to go shorter, more compact, tighter turns and less swing weight.
I am using a 6'5 Jimmy Lewis Flying Vee 115ltr I am 6'1 88kg its been my sup foil board for 12 mths and now am winging on it, Its a great allround size for me.

What's the next size down? 6'5 not much of a step down on what I am on now.
Price?
Suit Armstrong?
