LOVE my 1070Fireball, the thing is heaven to ride for winging, the glide and control are amazing and it even behaves in mixed chop/swell.
BUT, I try out my 940FB and it bucks me off like a wild horse. I simply can't control it. The mast placement is the same as the 1070 so why is it more out of control than the 1070 which is a bigger foil?
I'm on 82cm HM mast, Silly Short Advanced Fuse, 360/45 stab. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or how I should be setting this up, I've never used Shim's but think I may need to with this, is it mast placement, do I need holy water and a live chicken sacrifice? Any help would be appreciated!

Hey!
I think holy water and sacrifice is the way to go but I'm not sure a chicken is the best option. I would opt for something with better balance or some flying prowess, maybe a cat or flying bird.
The 1070 spirit is easily appeased, but the 940 requires a more careful approach especially in the beginning for safe interaction. It is also likely that a longer staff will help you wrangle this beast. The one you have is a bit silly.
This is serious business and can be very dangerous- I would advise bringing someone more experienced with you to supervise and offer assistance if needed.
May the holy power guide your hand and banish the darkness,
Kane
As above..
The 1070FB is a fantastic foil. I had the chance to demo it for a while with a similar setup, though I paired it with the short Advanced+ fuselage and the 50 Skinny stabiliser.
That combination felt well balanced under my 94kg.
While I haven't tried the 940FB myself, I opted for the 1000FB for winging, again using the short Advanced+ fuselage but with the 40 Skinny. This setup also feels nicely balanced and very well suited to winging.
I'd imagine that running the 940FB with a slightly longer fuselage and a smaller skinny tail would help it fly as intended.
Smaller, especially HA front wings can definitely see benefit from tail - shim (stab leading edge down)
I've always shimmed my tail to balance the wing I use most- set it and forget it. I am now on KT where Kane has a different setting/shim recommendation for each front wing (and mast length) Changing the shim to flatten the tail as the foil gets larger, more -/ nose down as the foil is smaller has definitely illustrated the difference it can make optimizing each wing. If you don't have a longer fuse, different stab.. try this, its a free instantaneous solution- bet it at least helps as does time on a new setup.
Longer fuse I use a 940 I'd say pretty unrideable on a silly short I'd imagine I use it on a advanced + short winging I'm 120kg
A longer fuse would help, Advanced + short or ultra short, but also it needs a lot more speed than the 1070, I'm guessing you are getting lift off too soon without enough speed then stalling.Be a bit more gentle with it when trying to get up on foil, make sure you have heaps of speed and allow it to try to rise by itself don't pump it up to soon.Maybe even move the mast back a little bit, I know that sound strange with a smaller foil but it will stop it lifting too soon.
If you want to calm it down then shim the stab leading edge up .5 or so. I ride my FB1000 with a 35 skinny and +.5 up on leading edge. It flies faster and smoother than no shim. If you shim the trailing edge up it will be more turny and draggy.
Thank you all for the feedback, I've got an Advanced Ultrashort I haven't used that I'm going to break out, and try my older Progressive Stab and then play with Shimming, appreciate everyone's help.

i'm on a FB880, ultrashort AD+, and skinny 40, it definitely bucks a bit haha
I found that narrowing my stance a lot on top of the foils balance point helps, even when going fast
