Hey foil people, just wanted to let you all know that after making very few taxi gybes and almost thinking it was never going to happen for me, yesterday I made a complete on foil gybe and even managed the hop and foot switch afterwards, didn't wipe out and sailed away - super stoked as it has been a crazy time of just jumping off, wiping out, falling off, falling in, slipping off, coming to a halt, I don't know how much water has gone up my nose in the pursuit of this ever so impossible maneuver and then finally - so now I have to try and do it again, let's see - I guess you just gotta believe that tomorrow will be a better day
!, lol
Awesome work, I'm still in the falling off stage - good to hear there is light at the end of this dark tunnel!!!!
Great to hear that. Probably you will still struggle a bit. However, soon, the foiling jibes will become easy and natural and you will wonder where was a problem.
Cheers, so good to find other people having fun and struggling with the same issues. As for tips and what I have learned. Well a bigger board, a longer mast and a foil with more glide and less gusty wind would help tons. My mast is maxed out tip to board at 70cms, the GoFoil M200 doesn't have that much glide, but it does pump easy.
Not caring really helped me, joking with myself and others and just being totally relaxed and prepared to say 'Oh no' for the zillionth time. I think I did a little pump, getting to be habitual now, just as I was going round, also I found that moving my leading hand over my head and letting go of the rear hand really early, almost grabbing the wing in the other direction before I have turned seemed to be part of it, but hey, I still have a very long journey ahead of me!
