Hi

REPOSTED HERE AS WA SPECIFIC

I was thinking of having a windsurf session at woodies, but haven't been there for years. In fact, only time I was there, I had my car broken into, so never went back........This was a while ago, but it put me off a bit. Also been told that there have been nasty muggings incidents - but this seems to be anecdotal. Ive read on the forum here that the whole car break in thing doesn't happen any more - can any of the regular sailors confirm that its not so much of a problem now? I really can't be doing with any car hassle. thanks for the advice! steve

Still plenty of break ins at woodies. I don't personally know anyone who has been broken into, but the kiters quite regularly have threads up about break ins at woodies.

Park there at your own risk, unfortunately.

Ive sailed there for years without being broken into, however there is always lots of broken glass etc. on the carpark. I think since kitesurfing took off the carparks have been a lot busier, so with all the foot traffic its reduced the amount of break ins (reduced, not stopped). As long as you do the standard things, i.e. nothing left in view, car locked, no keys under the mudguard etc. you will have as much security as any other carpark. Just be aware and vigilant.

The only trouble I 've had down there is getting a f(*^@% parking spot

Still dodgy down there though, you don't want to be the last person in the carpark at dusk

I've sailed there a lot and never had a problem, even sailing till really late. I definitely make an effort to hide/cover anything worth stealing as a deterrent. As said above, there's always a lot of auto glass in the carpark. If Seabreeze shows green arrows, the carpark will be pretty full so its a bit safer.

Keep an eye out for those marginal "yellow arrow" days when the seabreeze actually comes in - you might score it to yourself!
