Has any one windsurfed Boranup beach? Is the seabreeze working correctly on this beach?
And how is the beach break? Descent enough to have fun wave riding? What swell direction and size do you need?

Good surf break there and although it's in a shallow bay (I guess u could call it that?) it's exposed enough to allow you to sail without any significant wind shadows.

Boranup is fun when its working , depends on the sand banks and wind needs to be sse to se , very strong side current and light patchy wind on the inside are reasons it isn't more popular , and carrying your gear back up the big sand hill

It can be good but it needs a bit of size to the swell - this weekend might have just enough to be chest/head high. If it's only just big enough for Margs though - don't bother unless there's plenty of west in the swell (which there won't be). Saturday's forecast looks good other than a bit of cloud which can weird things out sometimes. If it's howling SE at Cape Leeuwin, then it will almost certainly be sailable at Boranup. If you have a 4wd you can drive along the beach to pick a bank. It's a fairly long trek in then along the beach. The best banks are normally very close to the main track to the back of the dunes which people get 2wds down fairly regularly. Can be fun lugging gear back up the sandy hill though. Like flactorman says, the wind is often frustratingly light on the inside - and then really strong and super gusty out the back. Getting hammered onto a very shallow sandbar trying to get out isn't uncommon. Late in the arvo it bends more cross offshore which makes these problems worse.
I've sailed there a few times and never seen anyone else out.

Thanks for the info, that was quite comprehensive. I might give it a miss this weekend then.
