Hey guys
wondering if anyone would know how to turn a sup into a windsurf board
the sup I have is an epoxy board and I have never had any thing to do with repairs to them, could you use a fiberglass repair kit .I have a windsurf board that I would like to remove the part that the base of the mast slides into and put it into the sup. any idea on how to determine where to put it in or just a bit up from the center of the board
I know im probably making a fair bit of work for myself but I don't mind the work and don't have the funds to buy another sup or suitable windsurf board for my limited abilitys any advice would be great
There is a thread here showing how but firstly DO NOT USE fibreglass repair kits. Do not buy from, or ask anyone, at a hardware store. It will melt your board. Even if they guarantee "this is for surfboards" it is not the same.
Make sure you put divinycell block in first, or at least good ply stringers next to the mast track box. Else, the thread on here or www.boardlady.com will see you thru
Basically though, you will need some epoxy resin like West 105 and a slow hardener, but super slow would not hurt also unless you are down south or able to keep the thickness and depth of your resin in check.
Q-cell (microballoons) as a thickener
half a metre of glass, 4oz plain weave is fine.
mast track (box)
a router.
