I am hoping someone might be the bunny for me to chase and push me over the 30 Knots!!
I have put the call out before for DAWN RAIDERS and made some great friends, so if you wanna sail on flat water with 20 knots ESE, Swan River Majestic point and Como foreshore, just come along!!

6 am ish to 9am ish Saturday 16 January 2010 Majestic Point carpark/ jetty, Applecross, Swan River, Perth.

Mate,

have you sailed there before in those conditions? If so what is it like, I have heard that the ESE winds are not as full / solid as a sea breeze and am curious to have a try, I cant hit 30 kts either, what size kit will you be playing with?

Cheers GT

Hi Mintox, my best time was on a 6.5, 7.5 and a wide board. ( 24.91 2sec and 22.07 2 sec) gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2009-11-01&team=31

The water is flat over near como foreshore and great for off wind.

Come and give it a go!

Easterly fullness depends a little on temperature... cool air, easterly has more guts... either way, it is usually gusty...

I usually rig about a square metre more for same knots for the easterly vs sea breeze...

No probs for the 30 either... just look for the flatter water... it can get lumpy...

You bring the speed, I'll bring the bunnies

If you are after early morning speed runs, wait for a screaming SE and do the north side of Woodies (not that I think Como would be bad)

I'm up for an early morning Saturday sail. I won't keep up with you blokes but I reckon I could fancy an outing. Where is it you launch from? I usually sail Lucky Bay. Is this the beach in Como where the paragliding goes from then go across the front to the jetty? Smells a bit down there.

we sail towards como from meeting point Majestic Car Park, then turn downwind once in the wind tunnell that runs out of the Canning river towards the Swan Brewery, across the shallows ( 1-2m deep.) to about level with Peli point, then up wind back to Majestic and then do it all over again

Looks good - so when will this be confirmed to be def on? How long is this as a round trip? What wind are you expecting? I have a 6.0 and a 6.5 cammed sails, rest are smaller un cammed

I am good to go regardless, gotta get on the water doctors orders!
Its pretty freelance- turn up, sail and maybe have some fun fanging after someone in the same stretch of water.
I am probably gonna 7.5 or try my new 2nd hand 6.6. Distance I have not measured it yet, i think it will 15-20kn gusty. One day we did this and it started to blast 22knots... you never know.

It is about time, I've done 42kn on my RRD FSW.

But I am not north anymore I am EAST and you can figure out what that has done for my sailing had about 12 sessions all season so far

PS the 42 is an estimate.

We still want you to join Pinnas we dont care where you are now, you was North so that's close enough for our mob.
We know your into wave sailing, so is Nebbian and a few other lads in the team. We just want to give you a nice place to call home

I don't have a GPS, can I join and just keep running with the estimated speeds?

Dman it is go! I will probably be there 5.50ish and sail till about 8.25.
Nebbian says he will rock up so thats 3 including you. Main thing is to have a few buddies looking out for each other.
If you or anyone hits the car park or water after me I will sail over and say hi.

So I made the shout on the seabreeze for "Speed Bunnies" and early on from 550 to 8am the river was all mine. Then 2 more bunnies were on the water-I followed MR.Ezzy-yellow board and did not turn around for MR.Neil Pryde as I was going for a fast NM (which ended in a serious frisbee impersaonation). But on the beach was MR.Speed Bunny himself or should I say the Australian Grey hound of speed- Spotty. We shared rigging tips for KA Sails and I think he might have learnt something from me

Next time I will launch at the Yacht club if I can sneak in or from the boyscouts hall just under heathcote' cos the breeze was much better there.

It was an on off sail as you can see by the wind but the Hyper did its job and started to crank upwind when I dusted off the 60cm. The 7.5 was perfect sometimes too much and often not enough. BUT... I did not make magic 30 and shall keep trying. The feeling of truly flying off the fin makes me think all that time training on weedys for the LOC could have been more fun with a pointer!!

So if you are thinking about a Dawn raid I say "see the sunrise, the breeze build and start huntin' wabbits"

Hmmmm... when I woke up at 5:30 and checked the graphs, all I saw was this:

Little was I to know that it would pick up shortly thereafter!
