Sailed at Woodies this afternoon and have developed a rash on top of my right foot. If I try to put a sock or footwear on, that area feels like the sock is full of prickles. Otherwise it is painless.
Any ideas as to the cause?

That is consistent with when you have fibreglass dust on your skin - you don't know it is there until somethig rubs on yoru skin and then it is mega annoying.

You were going to fix that board - did you grind / sand excess glass off and get it on footstraps maybe?

I haven't fixed the board yet. This weekend I think, as I would have liked to use it today.
Yes it's that feeling like you get with fibreglass, but I haven't been near any.
The rash is further back than where the footstraps go.

My next guess is Woodies has become primarily a kiting spot and they have soiled the water?

Gees Anita i was really nervious opening this thread with a title like that.
I have had the same before. I reckon it's sand caught in your foot strap and its has rubbed ur skin. I've never sailed woodies but i am guessing today there was plenty of sand blowing around.

I have had a similar thing from the tentacles of the little blue jellyfish at Woodies. You dont see them as they detach from the body and are so fine but they often wash up on the shore in winter. Try seeing if a swab of vinegar helps.

estuaries which are open to the ocean from time to time are breedeing grounds to jellyfish. when they are growing in the early stages they stack like little christmas trees and break off. the smallest are a fresh / brackish type known as hydra and can attach to fabric and easily skin. hydra has become a bit of a general term for small jellies though.
after rain they can be flushed out to the ocean.

I think jellyfish tentacles could be right, that would give the impression of lots of little prickles, although I don't remember any sting.
2 days later the rash is still there but it is not uncomfortable anymore.
