I was home sick yesterday... You know how much it sucks when you are home on leave, and you get sick... when its windy, and the icing - there are waves.

Its not fair

As a relative newbie in Perth, I am interested in finding more sideshore conditions so I can learn to wave sail. One of the advantages of fewer people windsurfing, I guess, would be that these places aren't so crowded anymore.

What are the most 'down the line' spots on the Perth shoreline in a typical South Wester? Obviously there is the secret 'northern beaches' spot called 'Perth', subject of the April Fools pics etc. Short of getting in my car one windy day and wasting an hour or three driving north to find this happening, I am not going to get in the know.

But, as a southern sider, would Port Kennedy be an option for me? Looking at my UBD, it looks to be one place on the south side where the shoreline runs SW to NE. Could work in a south wester?

And does Woodman Point work on a North Westerly?

Any tips for a good place for learning to wavesail close to Perth would be appreciated.
