Paid my dues yesterday.. (or windsurfing tax for a great week sailing margs last week)
My first foray to the dark side with my new kite and kiteboard purchased for the flat karratha conditions up here (when im not on my freestyle board or wave gear in cyclones)..
went to a desolate beach, super flat and windy yesterday (40 mile). stacked it out the back where the chop starts, tacking (or whatever turning around in kite speak is) and my feet fell out of the board..
I then proceeded to watch my board float directly upwind away from me, looking into the sun. The water leaving the bay (3m) tide ripped the semi-submerged piece of crap away with the current and kite pulled me in the other direction. Never saw it again..
searched for hours - not a chance. Its probably lodged somewhere in the 10km of mangrove surrounding the beach..
If anyone hears of a barnacle encrusted cabrinha calibre 133 being found in a few years time... have a laugh* and remember my sacrifice.
(*and tell whoever finds it to call the phone number on the board)
- Karratha sucks. I want to go back to sail Margs every day.
Well......... every reputable surf shop would sell a small accessory that connect your leg to the board..... looks abit like a short rope with a velcro loop at one end and could be very handy (leggy?) at time!![]()
