Hey guys,
WWA and their sponsors are hosting the WA state freestyle championships on the 1st and 2nd of Feb at Woodmans Point.
After a year of trying we finally have permission to run this event from the local council :) The event will be run at the 3rd beach, which is a short walk from the far car park.
Competition format to be confirmed, we expect guest judges and heats for Pro and Amateur level.
A Juniors division will be run if demand exists.
We are also hoping to run clinics on the Saturday/ Sunday morning before the wind kicks in.

Hope that what are you looking for
The World Speed Record guy from 85 is I suggest Fred Haywood
The some dude 1986 looks like Peter Dans as it has Santosha.. on the sail...not so sure about the logo for Tyronsea ..
I'll second Dans' nomination on the Santosha.. It would not surprise me if thats the board that Peter Ellery has on display at the 66 Motorcycles shop in North Freo..

Pricey,
What level of Freestyle is needed for the Amatures will old school moves be scored?
regards,
Pete
Hey Pete/ Others,
How many people would be interested in entering if their was an 'old school' trick format?
It would most likely be...
Old School = Any other planing moves (downwind 3, body drags, duck gybes...), or light wind freestyle if its not windy
New School = Vulcan, Willyskipper and upwards
I can update the event accordingly so let me know.
Thanks
Al
Congratulations on getting this up and going. I know it has been a long road for you.
Should be a great spectator event.
That's a heat winning move Phil!
Seriously though anyone who can body drag should enter the amateurs/old school, it will be a fun event just to get everyone on the water trying new tricks and sailing together.
Likewise anyone that can spock/vulcan or loop should enter the pro/new school!
Looking forward to it :)
Al

Hey guys,
We are hoping to see EVERYONE down at Woodman's Point this weekend for the freestyle comp, the weather is looking perfect with strong winds and we have an awesome event site lined up with BBQ, music and refreshments.
Anyone is welcome to pop down and watch, no tickets required.
On the Saturday we will be holding the Elite competition - this is for anyone who can do moves like spocks, flakas or flat water loops.
On Sunday we have a clinic in the morning and the 'Old School' comp in the afternoon. This should be a lot of fun, if you've been practicing your duck gybes or body drags this is the one for you.
On both nights we are meeting at the Newport in Freo for some social drinks and the prize giving on Sunday.
Check out the event timetable below:
PLEASE CAN ANYONE WHO IS KEEN TO ENTER SIGN UP ON THE EVENT PAGE BELOW:https://windsurfingwa.tidyclub.com/public/events/415-wa-freestyle-state-championships

FYI:
Car park has limited space, get in early for parking.
CAR PARK IS FERAL,
DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR.
IN FACT, LEAVE YOUR CAR OPEN WITH WINDOWS DOWN TO AVOID DAMAGE !!
Have a great weekend :)
Yep you can park along the road and its a short walk.
Personally don't believe the car park is as bad as many people believe, especially in the middle of a busy day. But its always good practice to not leave valuables in the open.
Al
