Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on where to wave sail in Esperance.
I will be going down between Christmas and New Year and I am hoping that the hot summer we are experiencing will generate a nice seabreeze down there.

Thanks a lot,

Fabrice

Free Beach used to be good a long time ago.

Just drive the scenic coast road couple of spots to choose from .One much better than the other,on the right day.
There are more but you need a hardcore 4wd .

Observatory Point (9 mile) is the best for wavesailing whilst Fourth Beach could be worth a try for jumping and mucking around in the surf. Winds can be fickle but when it works Observatory is excellent. This was the site of a PWA wave contest back in the late 90s. Many other spots can be used in different wind directions, just need to drive around to the right place. On Nine Mile, I found it a hard place to sail out at Observatory and you can find it hard to penetrate the shore break particularly if wind is marginal as it often is but ensure you time your entry and get up enough speed. Same when you gybe and head back out. Rig upstairs and carry gear down the steps is a good workout and back up again. There are very good sailors out down there and they are tops. So many friendly locals around. Its a very beautiful place so please respect it and enjoy. There are also lots of big fish who like your body so be careful.
