That's a broad church. What sort of windsurfing?
If you like going in straight lines, fast, in and out... the estuary at Australind is perfect. Knee to waist deep and smooth for bloody ages. Turn west off the freeway at Paris Rd and keep going till you hit water. If you're looking for more bumps, then Binningup will be the only real option. Well signposted off the freeway ~15min north of Bunbury. It sometimes has small waves and the wind normally bends cross-shore late in the day enough for some pseudo-wavesailing. Occasionally (very), it even gets ok. Not this weekend though - needs Margs to be solid and with the swell a bit W of SW. Knee to waist burgers this weekend at best...even that could be hopeful.
The BOM often forecasts less wind in Margs than Bunbury in seabreeze conditions - and often gets that wrong....like today. Up around Yallingup gets the most and is <1hr down the road.
Thanks a lot for that, I was just looking for some flat water to get some speed.. I was on koombana beach and had a go there but they wasn't enough wind.. I know its a bit sheltered, but I thought if I went a bit out in the middle of the bay I would've been alright, managed to plane a couple of time, but overall was really frustrating! Probably would have been better in australind on the estuary... Next time!
Burndo has covered it fairly well, except one detail. Mud crabs...
by some quirk of nature or deliberate human meddling mud crabs have set up camp in the estuary. be warned.
otherwise the boat ramp at Australind next to the BP service station provides the best access to the water and deeper water of the estuary. tides need to be medium to high for a sailboard fin.

If the tide is low, go south of the BP and go out near the rock groyne. The deeper water is then easier to access in a SWly
Sounds like the estuary is in need of a mud crab cull. Reckon you could free dive on them and get a bag or what?? Speed & Feed!!!
And dont forget Busso. If you are prepared to hunt for an entry point with grass then the SW sailing is very nice. GPS 29+ knots is very achievable! Although with only 2 or three of us using the bay its pretty crowded so mind yourself if you see anyone out!
