Beers, meals and banter after racing

Congratulations to MBSC for holding a very successful and popular 2020/2021 WA Windsurfer State Titles Regatta over two weekends just after Christmas.

Fantastic close course racing, slalom and marathon on a deserted Swan River was enjoyed by all 33 competitors.

Conditions varied from a drifter marathon to course racing in savage 25-28 knot gusty easterlys

Overall 2020/2021 Windsurfer LT State Champion Tim Gourlay (in action above) cleaned up and was unbeaten in 13 races. His training preparation included circumnavigation of Rottnest from Freo and return as well as windsurfing to Geraldton on a Mistral One Design raising funds for charity. An absolute top bloke and great sportsman.

Thanks to MBSC, Larry and his team of volunteers and the generous support of sponsors for making the 2021 Windsurfer State Titles one to remember. Special mention and thanks to Snides who has done so much for the class at the club and continues to do valuable work in support of this great class. Special thanks to our many sponsors including SurfSail Australia, Ezzy Sails, Exocet, Windgenuity, Naish, FCS, Creatures of Leisure, Ocean and Earth, Vaikobi, Surflogic and others. A special mention to Mark Taylor and his work in bringing sponsors together and also a very special thanks goes to Dave Ezzy and Ezzy sails for donating the kids rig and other Ezzy prizes and for Exocet for donating the Windsurfer sail. Dave Ezzy remarked just recently about the Windsurfer Class WA State Titles when watching the events from Maui: "Love it! Put me right back to 1978. I agree, racing is easier and more inviting with the windsurfer LT class than it is with foiling."
