This video is well worth a look-

You will see a familiar shop at 3:00.

That's a trip back to memory lane!
How little traffic there was on the roads...

I drove past this afternoon and noticed that the building in the foreground is still there, but it's now painted dark grey and much less prominent.

To promote a white Australia? Notice the total absence of any ethnic minatory?

... but here the Synopsis from Film Australia: "Made by The Commonwealth Film Unit 1965. Directed by Henry Lewes. A picture of life in the West Australian capital of Perth in the mid 1960s. The social, business, sporting and other activities of an average Australian family in Perth are told through the eyes of the local newspapers."

Great to see these sort of videos from a time before the internet and digital media documented 24 hours of our lives. Of course it shows more an idealised day in Australian life rather than reality.

Wrong wrong, guess again . They're Pelicans and they're at South of Perth Yacht Club. One of them is/was mine and there's me sailing it. Was stoked when there I was, on the screen. My ol' man will have a good laugh too when I show him the clip when I'm in Perth next.
