Nice piccie Mike, I have some go-pro footage as the wind was starting to go ballistic. Thought that the wind couldn't get any stronger, then it did!

A little while earlier, a rigged sail left the ground around that bin in the photo. it gracefully sailed over the two rows of cars, above the road and landing neatly on the front fence of the tassles house on the corner, coming to a nice stop in the front yard tree.
A few metres to the east and it would have swan dived in the pool, or a few metres further in and it would have mad a nice mess of a series of glass doors.
The owner of the sail got away lucky with just a broken mast. Could have had a major repair bill instead.

3 minutes later we in the carpark were getting a bit worried another rig was going to cartwheel off the water into the front row of cars after a guy got slammed and let his rig go.

Then the real wind started.

Actually it did cross my mind, but had wife sitting duties, and she cant remember when I had been so attentive

I got out late ... 3 - 5, so it had dropped a little and 4.7 was sweet. Maxed a lot of the time but not overpowered

WSW gave me a nice run out to the reef between Mains and S.P and it was air central out there. Not all of it deliberate air lol

Had a look in the bay this morning. Probably a bit onshore but doable. Super smooth inside with ramps in the middle. A massive mess of white water out the back. Would have been hard work on the 4.2m.

After watching the boys dodge bullets at shoalwater, rigged up on the pond with Simon and Bundy.
Sets were rolling in on the speed bank so that was a little bit interesting trying to boost over those with a 110L
Have to say, watching the ocean turn white during the gusts at shoalwater had me considering my 4.7 was a little too big.

Gidday crew,

I hate to sound like an opportunist,

but chooks brood have almost completed another 6 landyachts, and will be needing more sails and masts, so..........if you happen to break any sails or masts- please dont chuck them away!

give me a buzz and I will collect any donations for chooks school kids

all the best,

break a sail or mast- but not your neck!

Will do- Chook is known for having either a welder or a camera attached to a limb at any time!
I will sling him a P.M. and see if he can whack a vid over here for you all.

Geez, dob a bloke in!!!!

I will only too happy to put up some land yacht footage, when the big day arrives.

We are slowly working towards getting them up and running.
Our local Pink Lake is too wet, so it might be a beach run later in the year.

Cheers fellas.

I was there with my mate, didn't end up getting a sail since it was way to rough. Hats off to the guys who held that kiter down in the car park we fetched their boards. It's a rare occasion when you see someone surfing on Melville foreshore ahah
