Gday, I am coming over to Perth for 10 days in Janurary.
I sail GPS freeride in Brisbane, so I am after similar conditions.
I will be staying near Joondalup and going down to Busselton for a couple of days as well.

Is there somewhere that hires gear?
Also where do yo GPSTC guys sail who live northside of the river?

Cheers
Rob

Is Busso locked in?
Cos Lancelin has gear hire, and more wind, and the Lancelin Ocean Classic in Jan....

Busso has nothing, and maybe wind. You will have to hire in Perth and take it with you. And Lancelin is half the distance.

Bit harsh Mark!

Blowing 25+ now.

Rob when you come this way give me a yell and you may well have someone to sail with.
Check out the Perth shops for hire gear as there aint anything here.

Cheers
Dave

We have food & wineries!

I have never hired gear, but in my travels I think second wind are the most obvious choice, and some others have a possible buy-back option on gear you buy from them. So maybe secondwind.com.au and windsurfingperth.com.au ?

I think Windforce operate a hire place from the river.

I am sure a local can provide more detail.

Mid January there will be options of doing Guy Cribb course in Safety Bay (fair drive from Joondalup but doable). Then Lancelin Classic.

I believe some hardcore GPStc do sail at Pinnaroo if you like very non flat speed sailing. Else the river and Mandurah, safety bay, Australind are the flat water spots.

Don't know about Busselton as that always see offshore.

Gear rental I think 2nd wind is a good choice as Windforce rental is for beginner gear on the spot use. Also there is an option of renting from Kevin who is a local at Melville for a very long time. Pm me.

I could hook you up with some wave gear as long as you don't need a sail over 5 and a board over 85

Thanks guys,

I get there in time to go check Lancelin, which I am hoping to do, but using hire gear in a race like that mmm not so sure... and I wasn't going to leave the fate of my gear up to the airlines.

Busso is locked in for after the Lancelin weekend for a couple of nights and then back to Perth for the last couple of days. Would be great to meet some western sailing brothers, Dave

Thanks Curac, I have never sailed in waves like Margs though. Usually I sailing in a washing machine when I am on gear that size.

GPSTC sailors from north of the river generally sail at Pelican Point - where you can hire gear but only early intermediate gear .
Melville on the river is better for speed, but if the forecast is good we'll travel to Safety Bay or Mandurah - Coodanup or Liptons. For GPS freeride you'd just love Coodanup. PM me when you are here and I'll keep you in the loop of where we are going. We may even be able to rustle up some gear for you.

Thats basically me (GPS Freeride ) Windxtasy, I am not a speed freak, I just cruise around with the wind in whats left of my hair, and wear a GPS for my little team (Redcliffe Freeriders). Oh and thanks I will contact you when I get there and see whats happening. First day in town is 14th or 15th Jan.
