It is a winter spot juuust south of South Beach. It doesn't work well like days gone by, due to the marina at Coogee. grrr.
Also it is nothing exciting until you get big big swell so wait til July.

Pt Catherine, just south of the South Beach groyne. Sandbank (ie wave action) is an area about 200m x 400m (?) and that bank is about 100 - 200m NNW of Pt Catherine.
Well if anything remains of that bank?

Crazy's was living up to its name in September last year - the last time I saw a wave there.

^^^^ That looks only mildly silly, definitely not the crazy waves that was around in the early 1990s. Back then the sandbank was much more pronounced and you'd get proper waves coming across from two directions.

The only downside was that the Bradken foundry on the shore was still working then, and the water had a metallic taste.

^^^ agreed
best day I had there was in about 2000 - 2003 ish, we had logo high waves from both directions, when they crashed together in the middle of the vee the waves formed it went instantly vertical over mast high. Insane jumping, and riding on both tacks.
It was regular to have overhead from 2 directions, at least 4 or 5 times in winter.

The Coogee Marina (ie development to benefit only the rich) had an enviro study that said it would change the sand movement in the area so WWA submitted an objection. A big long submission BTW. NOT even a REPLY from the then Minister, Alana McTiernen.
And guess what, yep now Crazies is nowhere near as good.

Thank god Oakagee keeps dying....

The sand is slowly building back up this summer. Only neck most of the way out to the markers so maybe the good days will return.

Thursday might be a good test.

Ah, the good old days :)

Not me, but I had some carnage there as well.

Anyone keen for giving Crazy Waves a go tomorrow (Saturday)? Might head down there mid morning, as I think it will be too westerly for Pt Peron / Crystals. Hopefully the swell will make it in there.
