There is no one sail to suit all conditions, but only a best compromise.
Where do you sail, what kind of sailing do you want to do and what is your level of competence?

You haven't tried my Avalon Sail Co. yet Annita.
Light, easy to rig, very efficient, durable and user friendly.

Are you saying one Avalon sail suits all conditions?

Dunno about that - at 90kg I use a 5.0 in 20-25 and could go the odd 28kn gust no probs.
But 3.3 in only 30kn??? I have used a 4.0 in a stead 37kn and it was uncomfortable but do-able so got knows how much wind an average bloke would use a 3.3 in!

i bought the new Tushingham Rock 3.3m from Jezz last year, with the 370cm x6 mast and small 145-185 aeron boom, within a couple of weeks we had 2 days of over 30 knots.

first day it was gusting to 32 knots according to graph on seabreeze.

week later it was similiar.

had to sheet out a couple of times in 32 knot gusts,so for me sail works best in the 28-32 region.

had a ball on it,much less tiring than hanging on to a overdownhauled 5.0m.

did a pb of 31knots on it.

it was that day last year at the south beach slalom, when the wind was 25-40 that made me buy a really small sail.

about a trillion times easier to gybe in 30 knots than the 5.0m.

tried using it one other time in 25 knots and could not get planing.

Jezza some of the no cam freeride sails are suprisingly competent.

They make for easy rigging and are usually easier to control, albeit less stability and top end. They'd probably have more power down low so you could get on the plane faster. That said I can keep within 5kn of some guys with full race gear across the wind on my wavesail/freestyle board combo. Most of the diff is how you sail no really what you sail.

I sailed a KA Koyote for about half an hour before I realised it had no cams! It was still very fast and easier to gybe. My mate sailed the Turbo in the 2011 LOC and did quite well in the ocean race he said it was a nice forgivable sail, you should also check out Severne Convert. Both KA and Severne freeride sails are made with full x-ply so should take a bit of a flogging. Severne Turbo and Convert are new for 2011. The equivalents were the Focus and Element for 2010.

I weight ~85kg I'd probably go a 7-7.5m for 16-25kn but your board is a monster @ 131 so it might get a bit crazy at higher wind strengths with a 7.5 you could afford to go smaller if you plan on keeping that board. Beauty of newer sails is you can pull them down and depower them heaps. More windrange.

I wouldn't bother to size a sail for less than ~16kn its too light and is just frustrating sailing, pick a sail to suit your usual wind strength.

Hunt through seabreeze buy and sell for some cheap gear.

Oh and if your still unsure ask around to demo stuff before you spend yer hard earned cabbage.

Hmmm, no. I was thinking more of the type of non surf sailing, recreational, slalom, speed etc.
The wind range of the sails is good, (especially the bottom end). But I have a quiver of 3.

a smaller board and a 6.5-7.0 sail will get you out in most summer sailing conditions
