Hi all,
I'm planning on venturing out into the waves next week at Avalon(?).
Being a complete novice in the waves i was wondering if anyone else is planning on doing the same, and won't mind someone tagging along and getting some tips.

Arrrrgh!

Love to Stu, but we'll be on the road to Lake George.

Swell may be a bit small to get in here depends on it's direction, too much south in it and a 2m swell will mostly go straight past.

Main thing to watch here is the reef!!!!
My advice is to launch where Elmo and Lao Shi did last week, the small car park opposite Ferguson St, it's not grass rigging, and it's away from the social area. But you launch into the big gap in the reef (about 70m), and the best learners break, (we call it 3rds). Doesn't break quite as hard or onto shallow reef like the point or 2nds. It's also a good place to launch in light winds and big swell.

If there's wind there'll be people out, probably more kiters than windsurfers, but if you wave to them and be friendly they'll treat you the same.
