Hi Guys,

I've got a ford escape which i normally fold all the seats down in and i can get all of my kit inside with no problems which is greast when there is only me but i've got some friends coming across in November and want to get as much of it onto the roof racks as possible.

We will be going away sailing to Gero and possibly down to Esperance and i was wondering what peoples thoughts were about having a triple board bag (with 3 board in obviously) and a quiver bag with all the rest of the stuff on the racks, has anyone done this and lost / destroyed any of their kit? or been successful?

She'd be alright mate.. no dramas...thats the aussie spirit.
Do a test run and find the best way to get it all on the roof. its it wobbles or looks dodge it usual is. Use lots of straps and a decent roof rack e.g rhino. plus don't expect to do 110kph. If it falls off the roof.. at best you'll just have damaged gear, at worst you could kill the people in the car behind you.. no excuses really

yep, took three boards in a triple bag from Perth to Yallingup no probs. Never even a hint of a problem (apart from trying to get it on the roof by myself ) Make sure you have good tie downs.

Thanks guys it's good to know it's been done before, i was thinking about it today and im actually leaning more torwards buying 2 more board bags for the 2 boards that need them and then stacking 2 up on one side of the racks and then one on the other side with a quiver bag with all the other stuff on top of that, think it might be a bit more stable and also spread the load a bit more evenly.

I'll definitely be using 2 if not 3 sets of the webbing straps with the locking cleats for each side just to make sure, we'll be in no hurry to get anywhere so we'll take it easy for sure.

Anyone else sail today? i was up in Lancelin outside the surf lifesaving club and the wind was good for about an hour then it dropped off, we saw a shark about 20 meters off the beach though and then a whale out the back so that was a bit of excitement for ther day!

Borrow or buy a single axle trailer, pack as much as u want and dont get sand or salt water on your car is another way of doin it, or maybe u are already towing something then make sure as suggested us good straps and it can be done
