Even in gero, worst season I can remember (of last 8 or so), wind no swell, swell no wind, most seasons get a few thumping days every month with a seabreeze. nearly every windy day has gone from (accordion to the port authority) S/E than 187 degrees than onshore maybe like 210 degrees or so is now the norm. Feel sorry for all the euro's toughing it out in vans stinking hot with nothing to do.
Maybe next year ?

Well i had a good time. The main thing that pissed me off was the days it was awesome, i was at work. I come home and the weather was marginal.

Oh well. Just hope there are some winter storms to play in

Agreed. Showed some potential at the start, but sucked ultimately. Is it my memory or was it really much windier in the 90s. I remember windsurfing 4, 5 times a week when I was at uni, to the point I'd start hoping it wouldn't blow so I could have a break!

November and December were awesome, but since Christmas it has just been the odd week of good wind, and they were few and far between.
I hate troughs.

Tony screwed it up for us. Malcolm promised to fix it but did nothing. Maybe after the next election...

Moved here 10 years ago to chase the wind and I think every year has been getting worse. My call is we have hit the bottom and it is all up from here.

I had a great season, cross off, all day everyday pretty much, 2 sessions a day. ripper season. a couple of crappy weeks of small swell but all in all, I give this season the tick of approval.

Really? You guys call this a "****" season? I spend the last two years in Singapore. Had some great wave sails in Malaysia but f**k all wind. Arrived in WA in Jan... sailed more in the last two months then the entire last 4 years combined... an nothing over 5.3. If you call this bad I can't wait for a good season.

We've had seasons, where it will blow 4 days straight, 2 days off, 4 days wind and repeat!

No complaints here, missed pre Xmas due to work but since have had some really great days. Feeling the end of season blues though. time to pump up the mtb tyres. Have applied to my finance officer to buy wave gear to hopefully get some winter swell / sailing in.

Take some time over the off season to research. talk to lots of people and look at lots of stuff and listen to their stories.

Agreed I only got to sail 20 times this season. I got in 41 sessions last season. most of the days I could sail were marginal with me using my biggest sail 7.8. I only used my 6.4 once.I am thinking of buying a bigger sail for next season around 8.6. And upgrading my quiver.
I can not remember a weekend where I sailed Friday, Saturday and Sunday this season and most of the decent wind was during the week when I was at work. Oh well. I am hoping for some wind during April or some decent Winter fronts.

Huh! In Perth at 85 kg with a 5.7 as my biggest sail I sailed 48 times and I missed quite a few due to work and parenting two kids under 4. I had a fairly OK season. I probably could have sailed more if I bothered to travel out of Perth.

I've had zero sails this season due to shoulder surgery in August so me thinks any one who had more than one good day on the water this summer has been a winner

... I haven't been counting but, roughly, I've been sailing 1 or two times a week between November and February, also in combination with work and parenting, which means I am usually always rushing and looking at the watch, but I can't complain. That said, of course I wish I could sail more.... everyday if I could!!!

But March really sucks ... hoping to get the first cold fronts sooner than later

Yeah I didn't think it was overly terrible. Not the best as far as classic days but plenty of time on the water. Really the main thing is to have lots of sports, which rely on completely different factors and places to go. If one sucks, do the other. Between the sports I keep myself busy. So after a while it just blends in and I forget which ones I haven't done so much recently. To just do one, and sit out for ages waiting for conditions would suck.

^^ Nah
not that I diary my sessions as some do, but in Gero this season I sailed at best about 60-70% as much as I did in Lano the last two years.
It was windless for very long periods, at times there was 3 weeks of nothing in peak season.

We also had long bouts of a "nothing" season - when it is not windy in Dec or Jan it should be because it is troughed out = 40deg and easterlies. You can understand that, it is summer.
But we had 2 weeks of drizzle and 25deg days with weak westerlies. I don't recall long periods like that EVER. Certainly not cool and drizzle in Gero in mid summer. It has always been hot, or a seabreeze pattern.
I am a climate change beliebber now.

Sailed yesterday fully powered on my 5m. Head highish waves. Pretty average but had to get out there knowing that it's probably the last for the season?
I think swell wise was not as good this season. Some big days but not as many as last season. Still buzzing over a sail I had a couple weeks ago well over mast high. All by myself and fully peaking. Yew

Had a great sail today on the river in 12-16 knots with a 115 Tabou Manta - 7m - 44 carbon fin.

Never once off the plane in 2 hours.

Just rig the sail with a lot less than recommended downhaul - and no outhaul.

Every sailor should own a big slalom board and big fin for light wind days like today.
