As an ex-windsurfer and current kitesurfer I was really pissed off to see the good name of Australian water users tarnished by the absolute idiot referred to in an article by Gabi Seindtl in the current issue of Kitesurf (a UK magazine). If there is a shred of truth to the fact that he seriously hasselled another water user (let alone a female) he should be run out of Lancelin.
Localism in the water should not be tolerated by anyone!!!! If the committee and members of Windsurf WA don't haul this idiot's arse over the coals they should be ashamed.
It's stories like these that will in fact attract kitesurfers. Remember, the water is everyones resource and we should all look out for each other.
PS: it also pisses me off as an ex-windsurfer to encounter some of the biased and idiotic windsurfers venting their anger over kitesurfers. Sure, there are many idiot kiters - but we are all not like that!
It sounds like yet another Werner incident.
"
Suddenly I turn around and see the old windsurfer-geezer coming out of the sun straight at me on my six o'clock, full speed. I only just make it up in time up onto my boards and kite off into the opposite direction. If I hadn't been that quick, he would have straight run me over. "What's wrong with you?", I'm yelling at him. His reply: "FU** OFF!"
.. I meet the grey haired geezer again: "What were you doing out there?", he's asking me. "Waveriding, like you", I reply. "This is a windsurfers spot like I told you, you better stay away otherwise you'll get hurt".

You would think the Swiss and the Austrians would get along better... ![]()
The article doesn't talk about any particular breaking of rules, but just Werner warning her off Werner's waves.
I think you are barking up the wrong tree calling it localism,
there are signs, stating NO KITEBOARDING,, i can only presume they have been put there due to the danger of L plate kiters mixing with the L plates windsurf school.
Werner has probably got the sh%ts because a few kiters tend to ignore the signs or are not aware of them, ?
There are plenty of other better places to kite at Lancelin other than through the windsurfing school area.......
not sure why sensible kiters who know what there doing should be banned from main break though?????
Windy, the sign only says you cant launch kites from the park.
The main reason for that is the sea rescue tower cant see through them, plus they could easily get tangled in the aerials etc.
