I've just had my windsurfing gear stolen this afternoon. I know we're a small community of windsurfers here in Perth, thought I'd post here so people can keep their eyes out.

2010 f2 rodeo 107 (pretty distinctive - probably the only 107 L 2010 rodeo in perth ? - foostraps have "ASV performance" written on them)
2013 simmer blacktips 5.0 & 5.6 (purple and yellow) 5.0 has a patched batten pocket where I had to cut to replace batten
2011 simmer backtip 4.5 (brown and yellow)
2013 naish chopper S - basically brand new
simmer 400 rdm mast & powerex 370 rdm mast
chinook alloy boom (the pro-1 model - about 2012 I think)

I don't think the thieve(s) is/are windsurfers as they left behind some stuff a windsurfer would have known was valueable.

Stuff was stolen out of car while it was parked at whitfords train station and I was at work.

If anyone sees any of the gear please call Brett on 0410 768 682

That's totally f#####. Do you have photos that the community can ID the gear and have you reported the theft to the cops? Feel for you mate!

Hey Brett i have some old bits and pieces i.e. Hifly, 430 fibrespar, Tiga , i think some simmer sails, booms other stuff etc you can borrow ('cos some of it is my brothers and mates hand-me-downs) if your busting a gut to get out there until you resolve your issue. I'm serious. So PM me if your interested.

Sorry to hear that!

Make sure you file a report with the police.

I had my van stolen while out sailing back in 2004. I had quite a bit of gear in it. I filed a report with police mainly to get the car replaced. A couple of weeks later I got a call from the cops. The thieves had dropped all my windsurf gear into a dumpster out the back of a cafe. The cafe owner called the police thinking it was unusual for someone to throw out this sort of thing. Got the entire lot back.

The only thing they kept was a kite and kite board. I guess it was a sign.

When I picked up the gear from the station the officer in charge of my case said it's pretty hard to shift stolen gear unless is something really common like a bike.

Keep an eye on Gumtree, Ebay etc. Unless it gets dumped somewhere it will show up eventually.

yeah - thanks everyone. I did the police report 1st thing when I got home on friday, gumtree and ebay and all that. Had someone explain to me that, in all likelihood, in 2 weeks time my gear will be on a truck for some other state where it will be put on display in a cash converters store in god knows where. Still appreciate people keeping their eyes out as one never knows.

The ironic thing is I'd pay more $$ to have the gear returned than what a pawn broker would have paid. I'm currently focusing my efforts on getting some replacement gear as I'm pretty sure the season will start soon (earlier than last year anyway !)... unfortunately there are so few freestyle boards floating around as not many people sail them. I still have my 2008 f2 chilli in the garage - but it's hard going backwards as the newer freestyles (from 2010 on) are soooo much better.

that sucks, I have sent this link to Max - he is selling a rodeo 99

they will probably be dumb enough to advertise it as kiting gear!

Keep an eye on gumtree for several months, and set up an automatic alert if you can. I had a pushie (bike) stolen a 3.5 months ago and despite regular checking of gumtree I only saw that it went up for sale just over a week ago. I only found the advert once it was already marked as sold, so it is with someone else now.

Cops made a note in the file, but said there is little they can do as the gumtree account is usually a once-off (and the gumtree company are not helpful to police unlike eBay), and the phone is almost certainly a pre-paid.

Insurance has replaced the bike , but I'm just pissed off that that I didn't get the chance to meet the thief and 'steal' my bike back off them when I took it for a test ride ;-)

Guys, I've decided to buy some replacement gear - but thanks for the offers - really appreciate it - very generous Mark, vpar and others.

Dip - thanks for the advice - I've signed up for alerts - but will also check every 2 or so days - keep hearing different stories that make me feel more optimistic about getting some of it back... sorry to hear you didn't get the bike back tho (and yeah - I would have assumed a pushie is a push loop ;)

Al - also good advice - I'll also check under kitesurfing gear on gumtree/ebay etc (hadn't thought of that so thanks !).

Only just seen this Brett. That totally sucks. I hope you don't miss any action and get your new stuff soon and your old stuff back. I got some old rubbish you are welcome to, but I seen how you sail. I doubt it will last you long.
