Well After a 5.15 hour flight from Brisbane ..I was picked up at the airport by a mate who lives in Fremantle .With a full van full of windsurfing gear ..alot of gear for 4 windsurfers ,both of us having just brought new Tabou s ,mine was a 125 litre rocket his the 115.Mine later came back east with me .Great board for a 97 kg like me .We both had from last year, the 105 rockets .his a 2010 mine a 2015 .great boards .soaks up the bumps .
As he was in a hurry ..I was then driven another 4 hours north to Geraldton ...grabbing a late sail at point Moore .
Woke up early ..then we drove another 4.5 hours to shark bay ..slalom paradise ..warm water ,warm seabreeze .
well the wind didn't stop blowing even at night .
We then sailed that afternoon for 3 hours on 5.8 ..and 6.0 s
next 3 days was all 25 knots ..5.8 again ..the next day was a gentle 14-16 knots very hot ...but the big boards came out with the 7.0 x15 from 2 nd wind ..older model but great price ..3 hours non stop ,wind dying late around 6.30 pm.
day 5 was a 14 knot NW never seen that direction before up there ..sailing straight out to the weed .only getting 1 hour of sailing in that day ..we drank a carton of 50 lashes.
the next day was a beauty ..5.8 in the morning by 2 pm we where on 5.0. Which dragged the 3 local sailers out ..good to see .we only saw 2 kiters ..who sailed 2 days out of 7.
Next day was time to head back to Geraldton ..stopping at coronation beach ..great place for jumps ..and not so hard to sail .next day it was Cervantes ..wow 3o knot s .plus ..never had anything under a 4.7 ..but the sail wasn't the problem ..the 105 litre board felt like 200 litre ..constantly jumping out of the water ..managed to hang on , only catapulting once ..ouch .The next 3 days of sailing was at safety bay ..first 2 days was 25 knots ..5.8 again .my last day was 18 knots ..but still a great day for the 6.5 .thank you to Simon with the flash trailer who lent me a harness line ,which I broke after jumping at warnbro .. .a great open ocean sailing spot .
Simon ,my mate has it to give back ..thank you .
all in all another great WA trip ...it's simply is the best state for sailing ..
see you next year ..it will be my 9 th trip ....thanks WA.
Sounds like an epic wind surfing trip mate...gotta admit I never appreciated the wind until I got into wind surfing recently, use to hate it in fact...not anymore
Good to hear ya scored some good sails
