...someone was looking to move to Perth, work in the city and want to sail all weekend with the family, where would you live? North, South, on the river? Some waves would be nice? Need a good place to walk the dog.....just asking
Anywhere as long as it's within a half hour drive to the water.
North tends to be more expensive than south, western suburbs the priciest in general.
North is easier to get to Lancelin, Cervantes, gero etc
South is easier to get to Mandurah, Safety Bay, Margaret river.
Good areas for schools are western suburbs and southern riverside suburbs
There are many days when the seabreeze is coastal and doesn't get very strong on the river so if you want to sail often the beach is your best bet.
Wind is strongest around Ocean Reef, Safety Bay and Mandurah
All in all Perth is a wonderful place to live.
The real estate market in Maduarkastan has dropped as people are trying to sell their holiday homes.
1 hour on train to Perth
I live in Osborne Park and its very convenient, 10 minutes to the city, the beach and the river. 20 minutes to Pinnaroo Pt in the northern suburbs, the windiest spot on the metro coast (I've sailed Pinnaroo in 20-25K when the river was still easterly).
Oz Park aint glamorous, it's mostly light industrial (but not the part where I live). The adjacent suburbs (Joondanna, Mt Hawthorn, Wembley) are very nice but pretty exy.
If you stick within a 7-8km radius of the city centre the traffic won't do ya head in and you'll be close to all the good spots. I'm home in 15 minutes even in peak hour. Congestion gets worse as you move further out.
