Hi is there anyone on this forum who sail waterman bay. I have seen a few people there on occasion but i have continued on driving past to sail off Pinnaroo point. The point is kinda annoying me because of the silly chop and lulls etc. I'd like to start sailing at watermans but would like some local knowledge of the place if anyone would like to share. Plus i have a rule of thumb "not to sail alone" So i'd feel more comfortable sailing with other people. Safety in numbers.

anyone!!!???

There's nothing to worry about sailing at Watermans.
I've sailed there a bit in the past but needs a big swell for any waves.
Mettams would be the place to go as there is always someone there.

Thanks guys Mettams sounds good but i've heard that it has its own fin collection i.e reef a bit shallow. Where do you rig up and what should i watch for, like where and where not to sail because of hidden bommies etc

In the last month I've badly damaged four fins in three boards at mettams and the fins are only 16cm tall. I vaguely know where the offending rock is but with glare on the water and focusing on other people and waves etc that nasty little rock has caught me off guard. I guess its an offence to blow it up.

Yeah I've been had a few times at Mettams..

Best wave locally, at least for jumping and riding when swell is up is seal/little island out the back of Hillarys. I've driven past Watermans and never seen anything that's told me to stop and rig up.

I have sailed from Watermans a lot over the years, it has its own collection of rocks, it depends on what you like doing and how many other people you like having to watch out for. If you ask anyone on the beach (at either spot) I am sure they will be glad to give you some hints. Definitely stay of the dunes and plants, rig up on the bricks or lawn. The sign in my avatar is from Watermans, it also has the only tap with decent pressure drinking water along that stretch of beach.
