Hey all.
Anyone else out at lucky bay this arvo? reason I ask is I've just been sailing there and felt like I was underpowered using my 5.8m sail. I'm 75kg using a 92l board. Does this sound about right for the conditions?
What was everyone else using?
Any comments/suggestions would be much appreciated :)
Yes was out this avo at lucky bay,
6.7 RS Slalom 109ltr, im 97kg,
It was very up and down, dont see anything wrong with the gear you where using but what fin size did you have?
use a 30cm stiff,upright carbon fin,that alone will make a big difference.
lots of downhaul and negative outhaul, sail should be hitting boom arm when sailing.
Can you define "lots"? I rig my sail according to the neil pryde settings and thought that should do it? And at their recommended outhaul I can only just push the sail onto the boom at the clew!
i usualy knock 1-3cm off what the sail says depending upon conditions. Works for me. River can be a bit up and down. I'm 80kg and use a 102l with either a 6.2 or 7.2 in up to 24 knots, over this i go to a 5.7.
Was at Peli from 4.45 - 5.30. I am 76kg and was sailing a 5.0m on a 79litre board.
Mid sail I had to let off a little downhaul as I had downhauled to buggery and had to go quite negative on the outhaul which sometimes can be the difference between staying on the lane and dropping off.
Should have gone up a size but still had enough that I did a couple of scoot across to the other side without fear of getting stuck mid way.
Never been out at pelican point but I might give it a go next time. Don;t mind a bit of chop, makes things more interesting!
