Safety Bay Marathon
Registration: from 12pm at Port Kennedy boat ramp
Day: Sunday, assuming forecast holds out.
Briefing: 1:30pm All sailors must attend
Start: Aiming for 2pm. Will be off the beach as last year
Finish: Bent st. Finish line location will be determined on the day based on tide etc but must likely spot is on the south end of the sand spit.
Safet Bay Windsurfing Club will be running a BBQ at Bent st after racing is completed.
Volunteers: Many hands make light work so if you can help out on the day. We especially need people for the rescue boats if you are not sailing.
please email Info@WindsurfingWA.org.au
For the weekend we need 4 people to man the rescue boats for the event to be able to run. If you have your RST or can help crew a boat for the afternoon please contact me URGENTLY. If we can't get 4 people the event will have to be cancelled.
Due to the poor forecast for Sunday the Safety Bay Marathon will be run on
SATURDAY 15th December, this Saturday
The rest of the plan is still the same so see you at Port Kennedy Boat Ramp for Registration at 12pm.
Please spread the word.
Great event.
Big thanks to Darryl, Luke, Dan and John for setting a great course and providing on the water safety and towing/ collecting boats. These guys gave up their day to make sure the event happened.![]()
Thanks to Jacqui, Moira, Duncan, Tim, Cameron for help with trailer towing, registration and set up.
Thanks to the Ladies at the finish for recording results.
Thanks to all the SBWC members for the excellent BBQ and help with organisation.
If you enjoyed the event think about how you can help continue providing fun events in WA. Volunteers are always needed and any help no matter how small makes a big difference.

Great day on the water, thanks to everyone that took part in organising and marshalling this event
The course was well explained, and markers were well placed making the downwind legs very manageable. A close race with some frantic last minute gybing to make it to the finish line adding to the excitement. I look forward to this one again next year for sure ![]()
